 "You've got that wrong!" Bang... you say that the people in the underground died from some sort of infection, but isn't it obvious that they died from the mushrooms? There were even bloody red X's drawn over the cave where the mushrooms were found. |

It seems that those underground could not find anything to eat, and were perhaps forced to digest the mushrooms, which are a deadly fungus. |

 I will acknowledge that the mushrooms could have indeed been cause of death. The bloody red X's also appear on the door to the mushroom cave and on the trees leading to the mushroom groves. Lets not start stabbing anybody just yet... Please? I was led to believe that the mushrooms had a series of syndromes if you ate them and if you eat them in large quantities can die instantaneously. It does fit that the mushrooms very well could have been the cause of death had the mushrooms been used in whatever food those skeletons were reaching for. |

I do not believe the mushrooms could have killed them. If they did I would be dead too.

The mushrooms are only deadly in large quantities, only one or two should not have been enough to kill you. The information about the mushrooms I found though had a gap in the wording where it stated the number of mushrooms to kill the consumer. |

Alright since we're on the subject on the mushrooms I'll state in a non-bulleting way what I found out about them.
Opening the file, there are multiple diagrams of normal mushrooms, and vials of glowing white liquid. Then a final diagram of a glowing white mushroom with multiple labels towards pictures of red blood cells.

It reads: "I had once believed that the peculiar mushroom that grows feeding off of human flesh was the only possible cause of the infection, but it turns out that this is not so. There appears to be another associated factor. How do I know, you ask? Simply compare the symptoms of the mushroom with those afflicted with the infection. The symptoms of the mushroom are dizziness, followed by nausea and lightheadedness, and possibly instant death if consumed in large quantities at once. This is to be expected, of course, as the mushroom is a deadly fungus. I estimate one can only eat ____ before succumbing to death. However, these symptoms do not completely match those described by my good friend ________, who told me of others afflicted by the infection. Thus I must conclude that _____________ not truly ________ at all, rather it _______________ those who _________________________________________ merely a __________. I ____ connected to_____________ splinter group_______ Avrak city____________ and will not _______________________________________________________________ can ___________________ despair_________ infection-" The remaining pages are splattered with blood and are completely incomprehensible The mushrooms are indeed deadly to consume in large quantities, but none of the symptoms of the mushrooms would induce slow agonizing death like whatever the skeletons appear to have endured. They if they consumed to many mushrooms then they should have died immediately according to the book. Also if the mushrooms had been present in the areas the skeletons died, which they would be if they were eating them then the mushrooms should have been growing from their bodies or nearby and enveloped the area as the mushrooms grow from human flesh. Also, if they had been dying from consuming the mushrooms, shouldn't the skeletons be in the actual Mushroom cave? As I recall that area was blocked off from the outside. The skeletons all died in areas far away from the mushrooms. This means they UNDERSTOOD the dangers of the mushrooms and tried to avoid them. They died a slow agonizing death, and I can think of little that is more agonizing then starvation.
We also know that the Mushrooms are not the cause of the infection because of the Alchemist's book so they could not have been killed from consuming a mushroom once and then leaving them alone to die of the sickness later. The skeletons did not die to to over consumption of the mushrooms. There is only evidence that shows the mushrooms WERE NOT involved in their deaths.
