I also so want to add that the link that broke from the chandler chain was eroded... I wasn't able to find much.
But it doesn't look like chemicals were used from the smell of it...

My first thought was that a gun was used to shoot the chain, but this rules that out. That is the reason that I said it. Remember there were two pistols in the room.

Also I can't remember it being silver... but it was iron when I checked
