Starless Dusk Pregame

[This occurs shortly after the events described in the Starless Story, where you character is led to an area after agreeing to participate in the Black Clash.]

You walk through the city following the Lord who had informed you regarding the Clash into what appears to be an abandoned building. A few glances around as you approached revealed this as a small building near a large hotel centered in this section of the city, which you presume is where the Starless Lord in charge of this area stays. Not much else stands out to you in the eternal twilight of the city as you chase the black cloak in front of you.



? ? ?: "Follow me. In here."

Her hushed voice pulls you back to reality as you step through a door they are holding open for you. No sooner are you through the door that her voice echoes from behind you.

? ? ?: "Be patient and remain here. I have several others whom I need to gather. If you have any questions direct them to the others here. I will return soon."

With that she pushes the door closed behind you and you hear the sound of a lock sliding into place as the door seals. You glance around the room attempting to determine where exactly you are and who the 'others' are. You find that the room you have been placed in is fairly sizable, like a large living room, with multiple couches scattered around, all in the same dark brown color. They all face the wall opposing the entrance you arrived in, a wall from which a fireplace flickers, a large blaze roaring inside. You realize that the only light source in the room is the fire as it illuminates the dark figures of several others within the room. Specifically, you note two others wearing robes similar to that of the lady who led you here. One, raises a hand in acknowledgement of your arrival.



Black Mask: "Hail Fellow subject of our Starless King! It is an honor to stand before another of the potential candidates to become Lords! If you need for anything, please, ask me and I should fulfill your desires to the best of my ability! In the name of our wondrous Starless King!"

The other robed figure shrugs and gives you a significantly less enthusiastic response.



Silver Mask: "Hmm....My duties will be slightly different than his, but I will perform them as necessary. Take a seat if you please and partake in the company of the others who will be participating in the Clash. The overlord should return shortly with other.... hopefuls."

You hear a long sigh from behind his mask as he says the word 'hopefuls' and you turn to the couches. Once again illuminated by the firelight you see other citizens of the Starless city, waiting, like you. You don't really know what to expect from this clash, but you know it will involve these people. Perhaps it would be best to get to know them....

On the other hand it may be worth it to question these two figures and try to learn more before the other lord returns. Decisions....decisions...

[Welcome to the Starless pregame! You will be held here until the game's official start approaches. You can use this thread to roleplay, get into character, and learn a little more about the people you will be interacting with during the game. The other lord shall return at the time the player applications close, bringing with them the NPC applicants at that time.]

The middle-school drop-out saunters around the room with a hand held in front of his face in trepidation.
He paces in front of the couches, but in the middle of his decision, the boy throws his harms into the air in defeat, pivots in one motion, and falls backwards into the embrace of the couch cushions.

With a gleeful smile, the boy announces, "Hello!  I was taught that introductions are an important step to making friends, so I'll begin with myself!  I'm Yoshi Nanase, I love junk food, and my type is a moderate and obedient girl with long hair.  Oh, and my goal for the future is world peace!" 

Nanashi lowers a fist onto an open palm, as if in realization; he exclaims, "Speaking of junk food, will we be getting any soon?  I haven't eaten for the past few hours."

[Xaniks]

A fancily dressed and not creepy at all man sits on a couch, looking uninterested with the two Starless Lords in the room. The only intriguing bit about all this trial stuff to him was the lady who caught him in his, ahem, covert operations. But of course, she had departed to fetch other trial-takers or whatever. Now, all there was left to do for him was to turn his attention to any other females in proximity.

[The City [EclipseZwolf]]

Black Mask: "Ah, Junk food you say? There is a store for general foodstuffs nearby which I can bring things back from. I shall endeavor to grab a wide variety. Onwards!"

-The man in the black mask casually walks over to the door which you entered in and waves his hand over it. A brief sparkle of blue covers it before he opens it. He steps through and closes the door. A few minutes later the door opens once more and he returns through carrying a hand basket with a seemingly random collection of bags of chips or small sweet things. He sets it on one of the couches and proceeds back to his original position-

Black Mask: "I hope those are to your satisfaction! I am slightly unfamiliar with the foods sold in this area of the city, but I believe these are perfect! As perfect as my loyalty to my glorious King!"

-He does a deep bow towards everyone before standing at attention-

Black Mask: "You introduced yourself so it only fair I too reveal my name. You may call me Itriot! I serve the mighty Starless King as one of his Starless Lords and have been chosen to stand in for the local Lord while they run the Clash! I will leave the introduction of my fellows to each of them, should they so desire!"

-he motions toward his companion-

Silver Mask: "...I see no need to share my name. This task is punishment enough. In order to save face before whomever here becomes the newest lord, I shall remain anonymous. That you are not ashamed to be here Itriot boggles my mind. The Overlord will no doubt introduce them-self when they return. If at that time they make me state my name, I will do so."

-Silver Mask sighs deeply as he leans against the wall near the fireplace, absentmindedly fiddling with something under his cloak-

[King V]

-This witness stands in the corner of the room, doing nothing-

[Exusiai]

Nanashi leans forward from the comfortability of the couch to grab a bag of chips.

Fumbling with the foil as he attempts to open the bag, the boy repeats, "Itriot?"
A moment passes as Nanashi rips the bag open with a satisfying motion.  "That's a really cool name!  Do you want to be friends, Itriot?  I'll do a favor for you and then you give me some sort of item in return to represent our friendship!  We can exchange IDs and talk on Mutter afterwards... once I visit home again.  I haven't been able to access Mutter with my bitphone ever since I got here," proposes the boy, practically bouncing in his seat.

[Daiwa Scarlet]

*A girl flies across the room with spiraling trails of pink flowing off her scarf (aka she runs up to Itriot). She twirls to a stop and points her wand at Itriot.*

"Nihahahah, It would seem that the secrets of the samsaric circuit come ever closer. Starless Lord, will you aid me on the final step toward the destruction of all Angels?"

[The City [EclipseZwolf]]

-Itriot throws his head back and laughs loudly as he is swarmed with requests-

Itriot:"I am not averse to such a relationship Nanase. Though it may have to wait until after the Clash! My king has ordered me to provide whatever you all may need while you are here! The depths of my respect for our king run so deep that I simply could not allow myself to not serve that purpose at this moment! Once this is over perhaps I can request something of you! I do know of some wonderful souvenirs from the worlds which I am responsible for!"

-Itriot faces Satone and drops to one knee and bows his head-

Itriot: "I shall assist however I can! Though I do say on my King's name I have no idea what a Samsaric circuit is! Though no doubt if you ascend to Starless Lord no angel would have the might to stand against you!"

-The Silver masked lord nearby just presses his face into his palm and sighs again-

"Then we need to find the Agency, but first."

*Satone tosses her wand into the air*

*She reaches her arm out and catches the wand, after funbling for a bit she flicks it off to the side and it extends into a pitchfork of dark flame.
She whirls it around Itriot before stabbing it into the ground. The flame scatter into a magic circle which draws in all light and leaves the world devoid of what little remained.
A dark phoenix rises from the center and embraces Itriot in its wings. Which totally isn't just her waving her scarf around.*

"Will you join the fold of the Dark Flame Master?"

[King V]

-This witness lets silence fall over the room, then starts clapping. Very slowly-

-Itriot's scratches his head and ponders a moment after the performance-

Itriot: "I will assist you to my utmost! But I could not accept any master other than my beloved Starless King! As his most loyal attendant I cannot even imagine another whom I could dedicate myself too!"

-You imagine Itriot's brow furrowing behind the mask as he thinks-

Itriot: "Aha! Perhaps if your Dark Flame Master also became a Starless Lord I could serve them as an extension of serving his darkness the Starless King! An excellent idea!"

[Exusiai]

Nanashi hums in idle thought through a mouthful of chips.
Witnessing Satone's "summoning technique," Nanashi mumbles in between a sigh and mild confusion, "Ehhh?"


He interjects once more after eagerly listening to Itriot's suggestion.  "I was raised learning that loyalty is an important quality, just like being kind to everyone.  I won't get in your way of being an attendant to the Starless King, Itriot.  That loyalty is part of what makes you—you!"
Coming to a realization, Nanashi's smile remains constant as he comments, "From my understanding then, if I become a Starless Lord, we could be friends!  It sounds a bit difficult, but I'll try!"

[Daiwa Scarlet]

"So we have to become a Starless Lord to truly gain your aid. Just another step in the process. Nihahahaha~"



"Now how do we become a Starless Lord? Would mere control of the stars be enough?"
*Satone swishes her wand around and spreads glitter creates ribbons of miniature stars around her.
She then twirls her wand and makes the stars vanish into the nothingness that they had come from.*

After another brief period of awkward silence of people still confused how to react to Satone's performances, everyone hears quiet sobbing coming from the corner of the room. Looking in the direction reveals a pair of strange-looking grey animal(?) ears visibly sticking out from behind one of the couches there.

"O-yo-yo-yo... Its over... Its all over..."

-While continuing to clap. Very slowly. This witness turns towards the strange gray animal thing-
