Can't say I have fond memories of Kubota, at least the few I have. Regardless lets get back on topic about how he died. At least let me know in a tally of some sort how many of you think this was the work of the curse and how many of you think this was a man-made murder.

I think this all just an accident and he was unlucky enough to be struck by lightning.

"I don't see how it could have been murder. . ." "The door was locked and so was the chain. All the balcony screen doors are locked from the inside and none of the screen doors were broken, I doubt anyone here could make that jump anyway."

『Honestly saying, I don't believe in things such as curses. But, at the very least I believe Shion and if its really her who says that curse exists, I think that it must exist.』
『And about the time of the murder: I think it was around that time that I came to the Guest Lobby and took the key to my room. After spending some time inside, I think I went out to the balcony at around 4:00 and stood there for about 15 minutes. In that time I heard a loud thunder but I didn't pay much attention to it. It might have also been the rain as well... Not to mention I didn't saw anyone being on other balconies and didn't hear any screams.』

Alright, to make this work I'm going to need a few testimonies. Emil, when did you start smelling the burning flesh? Also, if anyone wishes to confess to taking the wire from the boiler room, speak up now.

I... don't know whether I should believe in the curse or not...
B-But someone died twice... and would you doubt your friends...? Do you think one of us is killing their friends?

Youmu...
M-My memory is kind of... hazy. I wasn't really myself when I got to the door... but I...
I-I think it was around 5:49 that I could smell the burning...

I will go ahead and deny the existence of this curse. I have a theory that is a valid possibility. Although... I want to see what you all come up with though. Go ahead, surprise me.

I don't know where the wire is and the first time I checked the basement, the light bulb was already broken and the wire was missing.
All I have now is a flashlight and an extra light bulb which I was gonna use to replace the basement bulb.

『Who checked the room with Kubota's corpse inside? What did you find? Was there anything different about the phone there?』

"If it's not the curse, then you're assuming this is a locked room murder. If that's the case, how did the person get into Kuboto's room in the first place? How did they get out with the chain still on? N-Not that I don't believe you guys or anything, it just seems silly to me."
(Great Noire, as if it's not silly that you're starting to believe in this curse. . .)
"The phone seemed fine to me, nothing odd about it. In general, everything looked normal. . . Besides the fact Kuboto's body was found charred on his balcony."

Alright, let's get this murder straightened out. Emil, you smelled burning flesh around 5:49pm PST. The watch stopped at 3:26pm PST. There is more than a 2 hour gap between these times. If the watch does in fact conclude the time of death, and he was struck by lightning, you probably would've smelled the burning sooner. What I propose is that the victim died before the burning happened. This is perfectly possible to accomplish with any weapon and the coal in the boiler room. Plus, the culprit could've been hiding in the room BEFORE Kubato got there. The rooms weren't locked and there is no obligation to anyone to take a key. The culprit would've ambushed Kubato inside and killed him. The rain outside would've washed away any traces of blood. Then the culprit would simply use the coal they had prepared in advance to burn the body to a crisp, so we can't even tell if there was another wound or not, at the same time framing an accidental death by a lightning strike. The culprit would take the victim's room key, and use that and the wire from the boiler room to both lock and chain lock the door from the outside. The missing wire in the boiler room could easily be used to lock the chain from the outside. All of this makes the prospect of murder highly probable, and thus the culprit would be the person who destroyed the lights in the boiler room in the first place. I conclude my case.

A locked room murder? That implies there was no way out, but we all saw it didn't we? The open screen door. Someone escaping via the balcony and another room is much more probable than lightning hitting Kubota multiple times to kill him.

I-In order for the rain to wash all the evidence, wouldn't he need to be on the balcony when he was killed?
S-Since the burning came much later... how would he burn under the pouring rain?
