The rain serves as a function to wash whatever weapon they used. If the culprit simply knocked the victim out, stuffed coal in their clothing, lit their clothing, and threw the body onto the balcony, it would be simple to kill the victim without getting wet. The long time between the burning and the smell also supports this claim. The weapon the culprit used wouldn't even get bloody, and the victim wouldn't be able to scream due to being knocked out.

You ignore some important facts Youmu. First, if the body was lit on fire to a degree that the rain could not stop it, why does he still have flesh? He should be a skeleton now if they had been put through that much fire. I propose they were killed through regular means, which I have not yet discerned and then placed on the balcony for lightning to strike them and destroy the body. That could cause the burning smell later since the lightning could strike his already dead and somewhat burnt corpse and the heat of lightning is nothing to sniff at.

"Now that we're suspecting someone did this, shouldn't it appropriate to ask just where everyone was? If this was murder, it would be someone wet from the rain, wouldn't it?"
Noire looks around the room in an attempt to single someone out.

If we assume that the time of the watch breaking is the time of death, I'm sure that most of us were on the 3rd floor figuring out how to break the locked room door.

As much as I hate to say this, I arrived on the third floor an hour AFTER the time the clock reads(unless I have screwed up time zones, working with the time since I made the post). I was the first person there after you Youmu so none of the Door breaking Alibi's hold.

Alright, here's my opinion (forgive me if I go over something we've already determined, it's hard to keep all this together). First is a fact: Something superheated was on that balcony. A charred ring under the corpse is evidence of this. The watch and glasses had evidence that they too were scorched mercilessly. Therefore, the watch was not placed on the victim after his death. (If the watch was heated in a furnace, it would have melted. The burning would have to have been instantanious). If the watch was not placed on the victim after death, we can assume 3:15-ish is the time of death. I propose the killer knocked out the victim. They dragged them to the balcony, wrapped the wire around them, and set it someplace it would be struck by lightning. Afterward, they took everything they needed off the victim and left. Now one last thing: I don't believe we'll find the wire. I think it's been discarded off the balcony, as that is the piece of evidence most likely to incriminate someone right now. This all is a pretty farfetched theory, but under the circumstances, I can't think of much more. Our last option? A curse. A curse which will kill one of us every day. A curse which is starting to seem real. The only reason I have for not believing this to be a curse is that this.........it's too organized. Even though there's so much we don't understand, I think there are enough peices to at least slightly resemble a puzzle which isn't a curse. *left*

"Maybe if you were holding a pillow instead, Sova."
"I feel like this is all a waste of time. . . Curse or not, people are dying and something is killing them speculating with this little information is getting us nowhere and if Shion's book is right, someone's going to die again tomorrow."

Noire is correct. As we are now we are just talking in circles about the ways this is a possible murder and not a curse. I propose we split up and search the manor again for more proof for or against the curse. We have the axe to bring down the door now, so first I say we get through that door.

I agree with vice-president Noire. Since the key to Kubato's room was missing, it is extremely likely that this was done by murder instead of some silly curse. There's no reason for Kubato's room key NOT to be on him or in the room if it was a simple lightning strike. However, at this point I believe the culprit would've hidden all of the evidence due to our discussion. The wire and the key are most likely hidden as of now, so we won't find out who the culprit is that way. We should keep investigating how the president died, why the president called us here, and if the two deaths are connected instead of fixating on a single event such as this. -off to the 3rd floor-

Hahaha! You fools! I've decided this has gone on long enough. While I'm not the killer, I am indeed the one who has the Thin Metal Wire that was taken from the Basement. Now before you go suspecting me, while you all speculate the wire was using to put the chain back in place, do you actually know if that would even work? There's no guarantee that it would whatsoever, nothing but a simple thought to try and put things together! Now how about instead of going in circles with this, we just move on. Who even cared about that what's his face anyways? HUHUWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! -leaves-

『Well, I think it would actually be more strange if me who was actually the last one to find out about the murder knew how to solve it. I agree to Eclipse on the point that perhaps we should check the locked room on the 3rd floor.』 * Sova starts walking towards the exit to MF2 Main Hall. 『Who else is coming?』
