The Stitching Heart

The City is no stranger to plagues and diseases, but there are stranger occurrences with more direct resolutions. One such occurrence is known as 'The Stitching.' During an incident, citizens in a particular area of the City will discover irremovable tags upon their bodies. Those with tags will begin to be changed into constructs of yarn as their bodies become 'stitched' and eventually turn completely into something akin to a golem of yarn. The condition spreads like a disease. The touch of one turned will cause a tag to manifest.


The cause of this incident is an entity currently known as 'The Stitching Heart' and due to this is exalted as a Star of the City. The source of the Heart is not known, but it appears within the ruins underneath the city and in the outskirts seemingly at random. The Heart is a literal beating heart constructed of yarn. As it beats, it extends yarn outwards and above into the city. Contact with these yarn strings will start the infection of The Stitching. Infected will also find they are unable to move beyond a set distance from The Stitching Heart.


Should the heart completely infect everything within its range, all of the converted people will be unwound and turned into complete strings of yarn which the Heart absorbs before vanishing. If the Heart is destroyed, the ongoing infection will cease. Depending how long the Heart has been active affects how dangerous it is. Early on even low ranking Fixers can handle it, provided they can navigate the ruins where it lurks. An extended infection is far more dangerous and can require an assault involving multiple fixer offices to bring down.

Flow's Notes:

You will almost certainly have to deal with The Stitching at least once in your careers as Fixers. Ain't no rhyme or reason to where it pops up, so just be aware if somebody mentions tags or yarn. So long as you don't get infected, I would recommend coming back to the office to plan a full scale assault. If you do your only options to resolve it on the spot. Gear up and follow any yarn you find back to the Heart and smash it and the incident's over. I've heard some experts say they were infected once and found something that made it easier to resist The Stitching in the future, but not sure what it was....so keep your eyes open!
