"I was able to determine your statement was a lie. I don't know what you lied about, specifically, or how you did it. Just that you weren't being honest."

4th Prince: "Tell me brother, this way of telling that the statement is untrue ... does it discern between knowing lies, lies of omission or lies of ignorance?"

"Ah... Well... I did see people during other blackouts as far as we are aware... I do not know anything of your source... Prince Benji. All I know that my statement for this specific blackout stands... from my point of view. But... My perception is not perfect. It is very possible someone passed me by while I was being distracted with investigating in the darkness at some point"

"Wait, that's ridiculous Prince Benjamin! What if I just made a theory stating it doesn't matter how the culprit got past the cameras, or how the culprit gathered the shards. The shards are there, and the cameras were bypassed in some way because we know the culprit disposed of evidence. For example, the culprit gathered all the shards beforehand and set them all up. For example, the cameras were too poor quality to capture footage during darkness. For example, the cameras were placed at the wrong angle. For example, the cameras malfunctioned allowing the culprit to slip through. Thus, it would have to be Knight, as she is the most suspicious person!"
"I could make the same theory about anyone here, and nobody would be able to disprove it! All of your alibis, all of your evidence, all of it is fallible there is truly no room for error in that statement!"

"One of Ayane's points of defense is contending that the murder did not take place in Her Highness the Fifth Prince's rooms because of the sound it would have made, right? Shouldn't the same apply to the case against Gat? Private, you did not specify where in your theory, right? Expand on it! Any theory should be complete if we are to judge someone for such a heinous crime!"

"Does it even matter anymore...? It's Prince Benjamin's word against a lowly guard."
"Let's just take for example that Jekyll is correct about everything, the culprit prepared all the items beforehand. The culprit could have easily gotten ahold of everything from back before trial 1 or 2, the breaking of the items was also done beforehand while nobody was around. The culprit then got through prince 5's door because the traps were disarmed by Ynes. The culprit set up everything in prince 5's room, and when Albert left the culprit ambushed him and killed him. No signs of a struggle were found because Albert was too busy trying to claw the towel choking him, then after he was knocked out or killed via strangulation, the culprit stuffed him inside of a closet and stabbed him in the neck with a shard. Then the culprit goes out to dispose of evidence, sneaking past several cameras along the way, and ends up back on deck 1."
"Knight claims she had solid alibis throughout trials 1 and 2, but she admits that it is possible to prepare such items far in advance. It's sufficient to claim she simply thought extremely far ahead and prepared the items before anyone else could see her."
"Knight claims she voted for Albert opportunistically. It is sufficient to claim that she is lying, and she voted for Albert out of malice."
"Knight claims to have not moved through reception very much. It is sufficient to claim that because reception had not yet installed CCTV cameras before trial 2, that it would be simple for Knight to sneak through the reception and not leave any traces."
"Knight claims that smashing items to obtain the shards would have caused noise. It is sufficient to claim that since Knight thought so far ahead, she broke all of the items far ahead of time when nobody was around to watch, and carried all of the shards with her until she had an opportunity to set things up."
"Knight claims there were no signs of struggle. It is sufficient to claim that Albert simply didn't struggle beyond clawing at the towel around his neck so that he did not break anything in prince 5's room. He is a guard after all."
"Knight claims she would have been spotted by my cameras on her way back to deck 1. It is sufficient to claim Knight simply waited for me to move out of the staff hallway, and for my cameras to stop recording, before sneaking back up to deck 1. Any alibi claims that contradict the timing are simply Prince Carmilla misremembering or not noticing. Since Prince Carmilla has not moved in a long time, she could very easily forget when someone comes to visit her."
"Thus, it's sufficient to claim that Knight is the culprit. Not necessarily correct... only sufficient."

4th Prince: "Really now, Otoshin. My brother just revealed that it is merely an ability to see if there was more to the statement. So we know that someone was in the hallway that our lovely knight claims to be patrolling at worst. With how many times the Knight has claimed she was with someone, be it Benjamin's secretary or Jekyll, I doubt she had much time to set up this elaborate of a murder. But here, let me debunk one part of your theory. Your wonderful camera set-up wouldn't have missed things like that. And they record for 30 minutes which more than covers the duration of the blackout. So the knight waiting for such a long time would not have been feasible I'm afraid. The timing does not add up.
Come now, we've made it this far. Let's finish this right. So far I'll be voting to abstain."

"B-but Prince Tserriednich... p-please, you must understand..."
"No... y-you're right... I'll retract my accusation of Knight. That was foolish of me..."
"B-but that puts us in a very strange situation... I can't imagine anyone other than prince 3's guards committing this murder, with the use of their room's secret passage. It would be too difficult for anyone else to bypass the cameras or the reception."

“That flimsy camera guy Otoshin put surveillance all over the ship, right? He's got eyes on the Staff Hallway, all over Deck 2, **** has made it impossible to take out some trash myself. Impossible for the killer to prep for the occasion with items from Deck 3 while finishing the cleanup in Laundry without getting spotted. The lying Knight who claimed to be on Deck 1 during the blackout would have had to travel through a passageway that was monitored by a camera, or through the reception, which she ain't on the record for. No way it could be her, unless she ain't working alone.
Shoddy job with the shards all over the crime scene. Would have just made it look like the fish drowned itself, personally. The fact that the shards are from places over all three decks makes it seem like whoever planted the **** shards had to be all across the ship. Our gal, Knight, who wasn't seen on the camera using the passages or in the logs, couldn't have been the one who grabbed the plates and broke them at the crime scene, especially since she said she was on Deck 1 during the blackout.
If the killer had a number two, an accomplice, the shards would make much more sense to cover for the alibi. It would have to have been someone who prepared the towels and plates in advance and delivered them before or after the fish was gutted to create the scene. Heavier things like that glass lamp could be stashed in the freezer in the Deck 1 Kitchen. With plenty of time after the blackout, the shards would be easy to hide and transport. The accomplice would also be the one to drop off the towels in the laundry afterward.
Considering this, the Knight wouldn't need to travel between different decks. All she would have to do is wait for a victim, the chef, to walk close enough to the fifth prince's foyer door where she could get the jump on him. She then could choke them unconscious under darkness and drag the body to the Servant Quarters where any wounds could be made using shards that could be prepared in the suite.
The Knight states that she met up with the boss' Courtier and that wackjob Kaede in the princess' suite, where they would then leave to watch movies at the Theater. This would have happened after lights went back on according to that Jekyll, where she claimed she saw Kaede pop out from a hiding spot in the shop. With all the time between blackout and the crime scene being found, the Knight would assume they were in the clear if she kept walking around with Kaede.
Who could be that number two? Otoshin has been collecting plates for that psycho prince's dinner and has been seen on all three decks, so he is most likely to be our guy. He's placed cameras that proved no one used the passages and also caused the last blackout that we last saw our fishy chef alive in. He's also stated he has snooped in all the Prince suites, even the boss's, meaning he knows the passageways and where the Princes normally stay in each suite. As a guard of the psycho, Otoshin can carry far more than the rest of us can, making it easy for him to bring those many shards around the ship without anyone noticing.
Since we found the body hours after the catfish was bled out, seeing as the blood began to dry, the chance Otoshin is our guy can't be ruled out.
That would pin the Knight as the shooter and Otoshin as her cleaner.”
Vinny convulses before blinking rapidly.
“Boss, what da 'ell jus 'appened? I just blacked awut far a second.”
