Embers leaves drift from blazing trees, the smaller ones burning away before they reach the floor. Gnarled branches reach for the sun, providing little shade for those below. Whorls in the trunk hide pools of volatile resin, scalding those who harm the tree. During the afternoon, the heat of the sun will occasionally cause the trees to combust. Consequently most of the wildlife in this forest is either nocturnal or resistant to heat.
