Junko Enoshima laughs maniacally as a smoke bomb suddenly detonates. Mukuro Ikusaba jumps into the room and a rapid series of gunshots follow. After a moment, Junko and Mukuro both leave the room. They climb the building and enter the airship. The airship flies off, leaving the ruined sector behind...
As the smoke clears, Jyu Viole Grace stands in the Inquisition room, a protective bubble of blue surrounding him. Viole gestures and the bubble fades. He looks down at the fallen bodies of his friends in silence. Then he picks them up one by one and heads down into the Freezing Room.
After placing all of the bodies into capsules, Viole looks to the large black cube in the center of the Freezing Room. He raises his hand and blasts the cube with a flash of destructive light. The building begins to rumble and comes crashing down on Viole and the cube.
At a pile of rubble in the middle of the riots, a man pushes himself up. He looks over the ruined sector and raises a glowing blue hourglass. In an instant, all of the people rioting collapse in pools of blood, dead. The man brings out a phone and makes a call.
"This is Emna Tandris," the man says. "What is the current situation?"
"Sir, riots have been reported in every major city across the world. It looks like the despair has spread beyond our control," comes the reply.
The man puts down his phone. He had heard enough. Emna walks out into the streets as the large metal walls parted ways.
This would be the beginning of what would be known as "the world's most despair-inducing incident."
And after the incident there would be a series of tests held. Tests for the ones Emna had left back in the research facility. Tests of Despair.
