Chapter 1: The Trial

Mishy looks at Nanashi silently. You could almost feel the tint of sadness in his unchanging expression.

"Uhmm, Nanashi... Mishy does not think that blaming own unhealthy habits of looting sharp objects and bringing to your place on culprit and making it out to be part of the case is good for trial... Mishy thinks you should confess when and how you got all those daggers and stashed in your room..."

"Also, Mishy is sure Vodka mister just forgot or didn't tell us about Axel entering to make foods. You are just as forgetful as Mishy aren't you, Vodka mister? Do you mind thinking back and telling Mishy when that Axel entered and made those foods?"

[Xaniks]

“Why, our departed Axel arrived to make some dishes just before lunchtime of the first day.”

"First I went to go have breakfast on the day before the BDA. I met Satone along the way who wasn't looking so well. She then said she was gonna stay in her room for the rest of the day. I then had breakfast made by Owen and Silver Mask. After that I went to the Casino.

"I spent most of my day there with Lloyd and Cessair with Yuuta, Shinka, and Rikka passing through. The only thing of note was that Cessair was coming in and out the whole time. Lloyd then left around 3 PM to explore other areas leaving me all alone. At 7, I then went to my room and slept in early.

"I woke up and went for breakfast again but note that Axel and Satone were missing at the moment. But I paid it no heed at the time. Then I went to the casino with Perrick, Mishy, Lloyd, and Monika where we stayed until the BDA."

"Er... well. If anyone´s interested... Rikka, Nibutani-san and I were all together during the entire day. We can pretty much vouch for eachother´s alibis. 

During the first day, I made sure to check if Rikka, Shichimiya and Nibutani-san all attended breakfast at 8AM. That´s when I found out that Shichimiya got sick and would come down later, so I left her alone to recover. After that, I stuck with Nibutani-san and Rikka in the Commons, where Mishy, Yoff and Itriot seemed to be hanging out too.
Afterwards, Rikka, Nibutani-san and I all got worried about Shichimiya, so we went up to her room to check up on her. However, after a knock on the door, we found out that she wasn´t there, so we searched around the lower floors looking for her.

We wandered through all the rooms from floor one to floor four looking for Shichimiya, but were unable to find her. So we planned to even go as far as breaking the doors on floor five and six to find her... But then the elevator broke, and stopped our search entirely.

The next day, we all resumed our search, but that didn´t last for long, since Cessair announced the death of Axel. That´s when we finally found Satone, who joined us on our way to the fifth floor."

Rikka? Nibutani-san? You can easily confirm this right? None of us three could have done this murder, since we have been looking for Shichimiya this entire time.

Mishy appears to be lost in thoughts again before finally saying.

"Thank you Vodka mister, it appears that Mishy might've been the last to see Axel still alive some time after noon when he delivered food to us. That was certainly about 4-5 hours before when Mr.Yoff left. And in the time between Axel leaving and Mr. Yoff going, the trio of Yuuta, Shinka and Rikka visited to ask if we seen Satone couple of times. Mishy certainly would have loved to hear from them what places they visited and who did they see why searching..."

"Mr. Days, do you remember if the the small pile of chips lying over there near slot machine in here was as small on first day as it is right now?"

"Actually Days, is my first name and feel free to just call me Days. Also sorry to say but I don't recall how big the pile was compared to both times I went to the casino."

"Hmmmm, what about you Pier? Was the pile of chips you left initially that small?"

[Daiwa Scarlet]

Satone perks up at Yuuta's testimony and gets starry eyed. "Y-yusha was looking for me? S-so this means... I was probably on the unsearched floors... Might Yusha know when he started searching?"

[Ryo Asuka]

Ryo realized everybody was just going in circles.

"We still don't know WHY. WHY was Axel sawing closets? Why are there holes in Nanashi's, Owen's, Axel's and my own when mine isn't beside the other three. Why was the door Axel found in locked? I feel like unless we can answer these questions, this trial is going nowhere. Why did Axel have bruises from kicks and punches along with injuries from his own weapon? Why was there a wet puddle in my closet along with all of my toilet paper missing? Why bother washing the comforter when it's nearly impossible to get the blood out, hence the blood stains still on the comforter? Why leave me a note about the laundry unless the culprit wanted me to find it?"

Yuuta turns his attention to answer Satone´s question.

"Well... Yes. We Rikka, Nibutani-san and I searched high and low practically everywhere on the first four floors, Shichimiya. That would mean that you were located somewhere on floor five or six while being missing. But you weren´t in your room either. I knocked on the door at 11 AM. You were missing by then."

Satone muses for a while, "Axel may have been finished with the first room when I found him, so he moved to the second room after I was taken out. If the culprit joined the effort, they would have been sawing through the closet next to Axel as there is not enough space to saw in the same closet. However, the culprit was not aware of the fact that the third room led to Axel's closet and made Axel quite disgruntled when he realized so. If Axel forced them to move down the hall, this could explain why the next room was room 7. Perhaps this made Axel question their partnership and whether the culprit was planning to turn on him later. Axel may have attempted to ambush the culprit in room 7, but failed to follow through and was murdered instead."

Mishy seems to be thinking hard of something...

"Can somebody tell Mishy the layout of apartment rooms? And whose rooms border with whose?"

[Ryo Asuka]

Ryo looked at Mishy before replying.

"Sure. The rooms go Nanashi, Owen, Axel, Pierrick, Mishy, Yoff, my own, Caster, Days, Lloyd, Satone, Shinka, Rikka, Yuuta, Rin, Monika."

Then, Ryo decided to take initiative and answer his own questions.

"Why was Axel sawing closets? Honestly, that really is not important. We can't prove that Axel's sawing the closets was involved in the murder, so we probably shouldn't stay on it too long."

Then, he started thinking some more about the more obvious stuff.

"The puddle in my room seemed as if somebody had wiped something away. Meaning the culprit probably left it after cleaning themselves off after the murder."

But what about the murder itself. Then, he realized it.

"Axel has the bruises from kicks and punches because the culprit didn't have a weapon. Instead, they attacked Axel with kicks and punches and stole his circles of death. This also explains why Axel had injuries from his own weapon."

But there was still the things with the comforter and the hole in his closet.

"Actually, I have an answer for why my closet was used too. If Axel was sawing the rooms starting from Nanashi's and working to the end then he could have been attacked after finishing his own apartment. However, it would look suspicious of Axel was killed in his own room, so the culprit needed a plan. They planned on framing me for Axel's murder. They sawed a hole in the floor of my room with Axel's death circles, since those were used for the other holes. This would make it look like Axel was the one to do the hole in my room. Then, they could have cleaned themselves in my bathroom and it would just appear that I had done it. In fact, they left the used towels in my closet, which further makes it look like I did the murder."

He thought it through some more before he realized this answered the rest of his questions.

"If that is the case, then that explains the washed comforter. The killer never expected to clean the comforter. Instead, they wanted me to go and get the comforter out of the laundry and bring it to my room, making it look like I washed it myself. Then, they could have also have claimed that I made the note myself, since there is no way to prove I didn't write it."

Ryo took a breath before continuing.

"Does anybody have any objections to any of those answers?"

"Let's see... The apartment rooms have a hallway after opening the door. To the left is the bathroom and to the right is the closet. Further in, the hallway opens up to the bedroom with the bed on the left, centered on the wall. The desk is to the far right corner. As for the room order, it goes from Nanase, Owen, Axel, Pierrick, Mishy, Yoff, Ryo, Caster, Days, Lloyd, Sophia, Shinka, Rikka, Yuuta, Rin, and finally Monika. For Axel's orientation in the room, there is a blood splatter toward the direction of the bed and bathroom, with a pool of blood around his head. There was also light wipe marks on the blanket of the bed."

Pierrick: "Hmmmm....I dunno! I had sprees of success and failure! So at times the pile grew huge and other times I was running low!"
