DISCLAIMER: Despite the title, this season is not based on Happy Elements' mobile game of the same name.
Setting:
The digital idol age has come! Who needs professional experience or contracts when you can upload your own works online? If you’re unfamiliar with mixing, encoding, etc., then there are several people who will voluntarily help with those things. Yattemita is a category on the streaming site Nico Nico Douga, where people upload content of them “trying to do” a recreation or arrangement of an original piece. Yattemita is divided into five subcategories: egaite (drawing), ensousha (musical performance), nico nico gijutsu-bu (arts and technology), odorite (dancing), and utaite (singing). The rising popularity of yattemita led to Niconico Chokaigi, an annual two-day event with displays, live performances, and stalls. Not only did over 500,000 people attend 2016's Niconico Chokaigi, but it was also streamed to over 5,000,000 viewers through Nico Nico Douga. As someone who just entered the yattemita scene, you’re dream is to rise to the top of the all-time charts!
. . .
Welcome to Waku Waku Douga! Waku Waku Douga, in its five years of service as a streaming site, is hosting its first-ever convention. All of the acts performing at the concert, Waku Fever Party, are either cosplayers, gamers, virtual idols, or yattemita; among these names, everyone [participating in the season] have also been requested! Although participants will be staying at Arabi Grand Hotel, Waku Fever Party will be hosted at the Mestar Convention Center (meant to vaguely resemble the Makuhari Messe, where Niconico Chokaigi is held) across the street.
Movement:
Movement will work in the same manner as standard MMG rules define. Characters cannot spend less than one minute in a room.
If players have chosen to cooperate and a situation arises in which one player must drag his or her ally, minimum movement time will be doubled for each person a player drags along.
1 Person (Yourself) = 1 Minute
2 People (Yourself + Dragging) = 2 Minutes
3 People = 4 Minutes
4 People = 8 Minutes
In order to drag along allies, the player must give explicit permission to allow a certain person to do so. This is necessary for giving control of a character in both movement and battle.
Actions:
For the purpose of consistency, this season will have actions sent through private messages on Discord. Away-from-keyboard (AFK) actions are allowed in this season.
Inventory:
Unless specified by the host, the maximum inventory space for a single character is 5.0.
Fights:
Fights will initiate when at least one player has the intention of harming or physically confronting another. All parties will be notified when a fight has been recognized.
All parties will individually submit actions to the host, and after receiving an action, the host will calculate the results and report the outcome of the turn to each individual. In other words, it's turn-based combat.
After all individuals are notified that a battle has begun, players will have twenty minutes to submit an action for each turn.
Murder & Trials:
Following a murder, three people must notice the body before an announcement is made; this may or may not include the culprit.
Regardless of who commits the first murder, certain NPCs will appear. These NPCs may serve as judge and executioner, because virtual idols don't have the authority to determine whether a suspect is guilty or not as the result of a trial. Those NPCs can be called "investigators"; their information will be updated in the "Yattemita Wiki" thread once they have been formally introduced. Although they are labeled as "investigators," they cannot actively participate in trials; while a standard non-playable character is able to vote, investigators are unable to have a direct impact on a trial's outcome. Like any other non-playable character, investigators are targetable, but their deaths will not contribute towards the Murder Win Condition of this season. Investigators are unable to murder.
Trials will be carried out under the standard verbal bullet system. Because of this, once a body announcement is made, the session will be on "BREAK" to allow the host to create verbal bullets.
Non-Playable Characters (NPC):
At the beginning of the game, there will be seventeen non-playable characters. Most of these additional cast members will also be attending Waku Fever Party and can be considered rivals.
Public information regarding these NPCs are found in the "Yattemita Wiki" thread.
In Season Ensemble Stars, all NPCs, with the exception of investigators, will have reserved hotel rooms, like players.
These NPCs can also take the role of victim or murderer in any scenario.
NPC Movement
The same movement restrictions will apply to non-playable characters.
NPCs will roam the convention on occasion. The amount of NPCs roaming will be inversely proportional to how many players are active at any given moment.
As performers, NPCs will announce their appearances throughout the convention. Like a subscription feed, players will receive notifications in the season group chat once a performer has successfully arrived at his or her destination. These alerts will note the location and sender of the post.
After this notification is made, the sender will be idle for at least three hours.
Hotel Rooms:
Hotel rooms are kept on a separate board from the main map. Hotel rooms will be requested through private messages after a player submits an application, but a player is not required to immediately request a room.
A character's room is chosen on a first-come-first-serve basis, so if a player does not choose a room by the application deadline, then said player's room will be randomly assigned. The list of available hotel rooms will be regularly updated on the application thread.
Players can receive a keycard from a receptionist desk once the game begins. This "keycard" will be a link to a player's respective room. Keycards will be considered as 0-weight items.
These cannot be taken from their respective owner unless said owner has been knocked-out. Logically, a keycard can also be taken from a player if he or she is killed, but at the point a body announcement is made, the victim's room will be automatically unlocked for the public.
Hotel rooms will reflect a character's personality. These personality traits, whether in the form of a list or literate paragraph, must be included with a player's application.
Abilities:
All abilities will be attention or performance-based.
NPCs will not have abilities.
Yep... that's it.
Time Limit:
For not-at-all-suspicious reasons, there is a time-limit for this season. The game will conclude itself after twenty-one days. A day of full hosting, excluding those spent in trials, is equivalent to a day on the timer.
For not-at-all-suspicious reasons, the time limit may decrease drastically under certain circumstances. The likelihood of the season falling under those certain circumstances is very unlikely, though.
The timer can only be reduced by a week at most. Players will be officially notified if this occurs.
The Mystery Win Condition of Season Ensemble Stars is basically a scavenger hunt, and the Murder Win Condition does not require much, so it is possible for a winner to emerge before the remaining days reach zero.
Trophies:
Talent Sampler (Murder): Eliminate two rivals (players and non-playable characters included) and survive one trial for a murder you have committed
Idol Declaration (Mystery): Find the six qualities to becoming a popular online idol and implement them into a Waku Waku Douga upload
Cinderella Paradox (Hidden): Something something, destroy the world, something something, confront the traitor
