Hirokazu Nolan

Diana Persus
- The culprit of the hacker incident
- A level-headed person who is unable to properly express herself
- She replaced Gaius Atum as the writer for Restart: Wayward Hero
- Not only was Gaius the first person to befriend her, but he was also the first person she developed feelings for
- As the next writer of Project Restart, she received all of Gaius' plot and character notes
- Finding parts of Gaius in his own writing, she decided to use replicate Gaius within the videogame
- In spite of prioritizing her intentions over the lives of the beta testers, Diana could not bring herself to alter the characters of Gaius' final story
Lucius Hoori
- Formerly, he was the Combat and Enemy Programmer of Restart: Wayward Hero
- He resigned his position shortly after Gaius had passed away
- The doting older brother of Jeanette Atum, making him the brother-in-law of Gaius
- The director had requested his assistance to resolve the hacker incident
- He learned early on that the cause of the error was a virus that was directly uploaded into the system
- Soon Enough, he traced back the origins of the virus to Diana Persus
- Lucius was conflicted between morals and wanting to also "revive" Gaius
- While the players were trapped, he took on a mostly bystander role, but afterwards, he willingly attempted to convict himself as the hacker
- He had only met Diana on three separate occasions: Gaius and Jeanette's marriage, the birth of his nephew Colt Atum, and Gaius's funeral
- A laid-back person, who can complete tasks efficiently when he treats them seriously
Gaius Atum
- The original writer of Project Restart
- He penned an outline to serve as a concept for a fictional book, but Adam Leonato had persuaded Gaius to implement the concept into a videogame
- Early on, Gaius had collapsed from overworking and was taken for a medical evaluation
- His tuberculosis was misdiagnosed for pneumonia
- Not conducting the proper treatment, Gaius' symptoms worsened over time
- Aware of his own dwindling time, Gaius continued exhausting himself into writing
- He died once he completed the game's plot
- It was only after his death that his symptoms were re-evaluated and it was identified that Gaius had tuberculosis
Jeanette Atum
- Gaius' wife and Lucius' younger sister
- After Gaius had passed away, she fell into a temporary depression
- She was unable to work or raise her son, Colt, for a month
- Like her husband, she is usually an optimistic person
- She finds her brother over-protective
Colt Atum
- The only child of Gaius and Jeanette Atum
- Since his father died while he was still a toddler, he does not know much about Gaius, aside from seeing framed photographs
- An energetic child whose favorite food is pizza
Adam Leonato
- The director of Restart: Wayward Hero and the co-founder of Project Restart
- Although Gaius was already ill before having worked on Restart: Wayward Hero, Adam feels guilty for Gaius' tendency to overwork, despite that being Gaius' own choice
- Due to his guilt, he has been financially supporting Jeanette and Colt Atum
- He is easily startled by unaccounted events, but his adaptability allows him to recover
MMORPG
Lapool
- The sealed version of the former demon lord, Atticus Halle
- Lapool is named after the Apollo Seal, the technique that was used to try to defeat him
- Unable to fully seal Atticus, the hero exorcist Hirokazu Nolan had separated the existence of the demon lord into one mortal body and three auras, or coronas
- While Hirokazu had entrusted two of the auras to others, the third aura, the Corona of Self-Infliction, remained with Lapool
- The Corona of Self-Infliction allows Lapool to remove and return objects and organisms in and out of existence
- With no recollection of his time as Atticus, he had lived with Hirokazu for some time
- Only hearing tales about demons being evil, Lapool, ironically, grew to despise them
- Even in his sealed form, Hirokazu had placed a seal to prevent Lapool from leaving the abandoned hideout
- His main weapon is a rapier, known as Gilded Rose, and he was designed as the "rival" character of the game
Atticus Halle
- He is referred to as the former demon lord, a traitor, and the father of Sayer Irwin
- Being a demon lord is only a title as a majority of demons, most of whom are in the lower class, do not uphold loyalty to the hierarchy
- His passive ability allows him to limit and unlock any individual's potential
- For a long time, he was unable to control his gimmick and because of this, his spiritual energy grew exponentially
- Consequences began to develop due to the spiritual energy he had gained from his ability
- The consequences were burdens to his mental state, including despair, resentment, and self-infliction
- Atticus had only realized his own deteriorating mentality when he had fallen into a blind rage after seeing a village offering a child to appease a horde of demons into not raiding the village
- He came to his sense too late, finding that he mad slaughtered both the humans and demons involved in the barter
- The only survivor of Atticus' massacre was the child offered to the demon horde
- Despite being a demon lord, Atticus was to be executed for murdering two demons
- In an attempt to amend his actions, Atticus decides to become a villain for both the demons and humans
- He had hoped that, by becoming the biggest threat, the demons and humans would not have the time to confront each other
- Unable to suppress his consequences, Atticus was drained of motivation and a will to live
- Attempting to comply to his ambitions and dwindling mentality, he concluded that, by creating a rumor that a human and demon had banded together to defeat the former demon lord, a nonverbal Pax could be formed
- As Atticus was no longer able to be physically defeated, the former demon lord sought out Hirokazu in order to erase his own existence
Fionn
- The sole human child that survived Atticus' massacre
- Having escaped his own death sentence, Atticus had went into hiding and raised Fionn during that time
- Fionn has not combat or magic capabilities, but in order to avoid confrontations, Atticus had taught Fionn how to detect magic and spiritual energy
- After rumors of Atticus' death had spread, Fionn, reluctant to believe them, had spent the past five years in search of Atticus
- During one of his expeditions in a dungeon, he had passed out due to exhaustion
- Fionn was then discovered by Hirokazu and being convinced of Fionn's dedication to find Atticus, Hirokazu had granted Fionn with the Corona of Despair
- The Corona of Despair allows Fionn to perceive any "possible" futures that he may be present for
- He puts on a jovial façade, but in reality, he is quite skeptical of others
Sayer Irwin
- The son of Atticus Halle and naturally, Atticus' successor
- When Atticus had ran from his own execution, the demons were overwhelmed in turmoil
- Sayer and his mother, Maya Irwin, were ousted from the main house and the branch houses
- The branching houses had revolted against the main house and with an advantage in numbers, the branch houses had successfully dethroned the main house
- In the chaos of the revolt, Sayer's mother, and all of his other relatives, had died
- Growing up, he had been self-taught in using weapons, mainly a halberd
- While being knowledgeable about the differences between human-developed magic and the trait of spiritual energy, unique in demons, Sayer, himself, is unable to perform spells with either source
- He was designed as the antagonist of the game
- Sayer's goal is to revive Atticus Halle, only to kill him, himself
- As Atticus is identified as a powerful foe and a traitor to demons, killing Atticus would, at the very least, garner him respect among the lower class demons
Clementine
- Despite being unable to age, she remains an innocent romantic at heart
- She has a one-sided affection for Clarence
- A magical girl, who claims to defend the weak and knock sense into evil-doers
- An elderly witch had transformed Clementine into a magical girl as a result of her wish to "become stronger"
- The story of Clementine having disappeared in the woods is used as a cautionary tale to prevent children from roaming late into the night
- She had once encountered Hirokazu in his search of finding suitable vessels for Atticus' coronas
- Clementine had been given with the Corona of Resentment
- The Corona of Resentment allows Clementine to adjust the weight of a chosen target, but in return, her weight inversely changes
- Her range of spells includes paralysis, binds, and teleportation, but she is unable to cast any of these enchantments on herself
- She doesn't like apples
Clarence
- Clementine's childhood friend
- He considers Clementine like a sibling above all else
- Demon bandits had ravaged the village Clarence lived in and Clarence, himself, became a victim of the attack
- In an attempt to save him, yet having no knowledge of healing magic, Clementine had instead bounded Clarence's soul to a post sign
- Although he does not blame Clementine for his death, she is unable to forgive herself for being unable to protect Clarence
- As years passed, Clarence forgot his own name
- For him, who no longer has a human body, he finds a name unnecessary
- Despite having no vocal chords in his current form, Clarence is able to communicate by crafting words onto paper
- He promises one truth and one lie for each question, but this is an act that he insists on performing as amusement
Hirokazu Nolan
- The exorcist hero of Restart: Wayward Hero
- Written accounts have portrayed his as a humble person who volunteers to protect people
- To the public's knowledge, he had vanished not too long after he had supposedly sealed Atticus Halle
- In order to use Apollo's Seal, the caster, being Hirokazu, had to sacrifice a large amount of his own lifespan
- After performing Apollo's Seal, he was estimated to have two months left to live
- During his final days, Hirokazu had gone on a quest to find vessels suitable of carrying Atticus' burdens
- As he was already declared dead in Gaius' plot notes, Diana had replaced Hirokazu Nolan's character information with the artificial intelligence of Gaius Atum
Tsukasa Jason
- A hero known as the "Spear-Wielder of Blood and Tide"
- His proficiency is invested into close and mid-ranged combat
- The "Blood" and "Tide" of his title does not come from his own capabilities, but from the sprites he is able to summon
- Magenta is a water sprite, granting the ability to manipulate exposed liquids that contain H2O
- Beige is a blood sprite, who can exchange the blood of her master for an increase in physical strength
- Tsukasa's spear is called Fang of the Emperor
- As the one responsible for maintaining the virtual reality, if an element of the game is at jeopardy, he will be forcefully called upon to deal with the threat
