Setting
The next massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) Restart: Wayward Hero has announced a beta test. Through a lottery, "lucky customers" have been selected to participate in the game's beta test. As a tester, those selected will have to equip a headgear unique to the game, a conscience integration system (CIS). Although most games of this genre have near open-world maps, the current map is bounded within an island for its testing phase. During the first day of testing, an unverified monster appears and corrupts the game. Glitches begin to appear throughout the map as the testers realize that they are unable to eject from the server.Rules
Standard rules will apply to movement, actions, and inventory. These rules can be located here. Any alterations or clarifications to the general rules are listed below.Murder: The murder motive/objective will be revealed early on in the game.
NPCs: It is possible to kill NPCs, but defeating them will not contribute to fulfilling the murder condition. NPCs are able to provide information during trials, but they are unable to vote and murder, themselves.
Trials: The investigation phases and the body announcement will operate as normal. The exception being that pre-established verbal bullets will be replaced by player-crafted verbal bullets via The Colored Truth System. Because there is no specified trial room in this season, players may submit evidence or make accusations from any point of the map.
Parties/Groups: If one person is designated to "drag" along other players at any time, under the condition that all those involved gave permission beforehand, then the minimum time for transitioning rooms is doubled for each character that a single player has to "drag" (ex. one inactive person is two minutes, two inactive people is four minutes, and so on)
Season Specific Flume Bullets:
- Players are innately unable to use magic
- Magic cannot directly kill any single being
- Those outside of the digital plain are unable to directly interfere in combat or murder
- When a boss appears, it will not disappear until defeated
- Bosses are physically incapable of transitioning between areas
- All abilities and their effects can be explained as a mental or physical condition/influence
- Non-playable characters (NPCs) are not capable of murdering players (NEW)
- Outside of certain in-game NPCs, there is no one else capable of ignoring the standard rules of movement nor capable of existing at two or more locations at once (NEW)
- An unspecified party or individual cannot be convicted as the criminal (NEW)
- A party or individual cannot be convicted on baseless assumptions or gut-feelings (NEW)
- Bosses are capable of killing players and while they can be accused of murder in trials, they cannot be executed through trials (NEW)
- A perfect disguise cannot exist without corresponding evidence (NEW)
(NEW) - Flume bullets recently added due to various loopholes present in the first trial
Additional Notes
- My writing tends to be abstract, so I am more than willing to clarify on room descriptions
- As an MMORPG, magic exists, but players are innately unable to wield it
- This season has been approved to have mini-bosses; certain mini-bosses are expected to drop loot
- The safety posts have links attached to them, but these links have no correlation to the season nor its plot
- A trophy for each possible win condition, murder and mystery, is listed below, but only one will be handed out based on which condition is achieved first
Trophies
Anti-Anti: Complete the season through its "murder" condition by eliminating one other player and surviving one trial for a murder you have committed
An Ending That Nobody Knows: Complete the season through its "mystery" condition by finding the source of the glitches and escaping the game
