The pathway adjourns, splits, and then meets again once more as it clears this area. Patches of grass poke out in various places. What separates the track is a tree stump about eighty-one inches in circumference. There is at least a four foot gap in all directions before there is another tree. Below each of the skinnier, full trees are rotten apple cores that have been somehow untouched by flies. A few of the trees on the outer edge have been injected with sap spiles. Water drips off the spiles at a rhythmic pattern into aluminum canteens placed at the foot of the trees.
A dragon-like hand puppet has been placed near the severed tree trunk.
