Over a dozen people were invited to a manor in the middle of the woods, there they were to participate in a soul project designed by a professor named Stein to revive his dead daughter Kenlani. Along with his two lab assistants, Wilheim and Garcia, Stein was on the road to completing the soul project with no interruptions. However, as these volunteers worked, they began to find strange things scattered all over the manor. Corpses drained of blood, a locked room filled with claw marks, an attic holding a few occult books on black magic... as these findings increased, so did the distrust in Stein and his project. Eventually, this distrust caused one volunteer, Yuno, to stop sitting by idly and take action by murdering Petelgeuse and framing Stein. Stein denied all accusations against him, but with so much distrust towards him, in the end he was stabbed with a weapon of blessed silver and perished.
With Stein gone, the other volunteers had no more reason to stay at the manor, and so they left. All except the few who chose to stay behind, and one arsonist who nearly burned down the entire manor. It was safer not to travel with murderers after all. Finally, the group reached a castle inhabited by vampires, and there the vampire lord, Aristus Falren, gave them an ultimatum. To leave the castle and the forest behind them, they would have to kill two of their own.
Meanwhile, at the manor, those who had been left behind were under attack by a group of vampires. They tried to stave them off, but were overwhelmed by sheer numbers. The vampires took their prize, the soul energy device that Stein had used to collect a massive amount of energy, and left for the castle.
Back at the castle, a murder had occurred, and this time Yuno was found guilty and executed. Meanwhile, the ghost of Hidematsu who had been wreaking havoc amongst the vampires finally found what she was looking for. An opportunity to kill the vampire lord Aristus Falren. And although there were some hiccups in her plan, she succeeded. But as Aristus perished, the vampire army that had been sent out to retrieve the soul energy device returned, and gave the soul energy device to Gerrenth Falren. Gerrenth sought to perform a ritual that would result in the end of the world, and so they set out to activate the soul energy device. However, Gerrenth found themselves opposed by several of the players, and they players who fought against him eventually reclaimed the soul energy device and escaped the castle.
Now that all of the players had escaped, they returned to the manor and searched for another way out. This time they tried the mountains to the north, and arrived with the vampire army on their heels. There, in an unfortunate turn of events, the soul energy device was lost to the werewolf alpha, Maliar, who sought to perform the ritual to return to his human form. Maliar successfully activated the soul energy device and the ritual had begun, however, the players were desperate to stop him and fought him with everything they had. All except for Yuri, who had discovered the exit path hidden deep within the mountain. Realizing the ritual was nearing its completion, Yuri lured the two lab assistants who had survived for so long into the escape chamber, and killed them, triggering the pressure lock for the escape route. Then she fled, the only survivor of the incident.
Meanwhile, in the depths of purgatory, the God of Unity, Sesarim Ylesva, the mediator chosen by Fedralis and the true mastermind of the game, was about to achieve her long cherished desire. She had worshipped god all of her life, given everything she had to religion, the idea of god, and its very essence... only to find out that everything had been a lie. When Ylesva herself had become a god, replacing the false existence she had been worshipping her entire life, she fell into despair. Her only wish now was to die, so she would no longer have to suffer. And, with the help of Fedralis, she achieved that goal.
Fedralis had recovered the body of the God of Nothingness, Nir, from the depths of Oblivion where it had been discarded. However, Nir's ego had already been destroyed by the God of Dichotomy, Cranaskous, and there was no way to revive him. But Fedralis had another idea. By gathering all of the vengeful souls desiring the end of the world, and channeling them into Nir's body, a monster would be created, whose sole purpose would be to destroy the world. And this plan was carried out and executed perfectly by Ylesva.
As the ritual ended, the soul energy that had been sent into purgatory was condensed into Nir's body, and the void monster that Fedralis had fabricated awoke. And so, Idolon Woods was annihilated along with its purgatory, Ylesva, and all of the players who remained.
A man wearing a white suit and a blindfold was sitting at a desk. There was a computer screen in front of him, its screen cracked by the tablet he had thrown at it a while earlier. He sat there, lazily, staring up at the ceiling, a goofy smile on his face.
"Good job, Ylesva," the man said to himself. "I had to help out a few times, but it looks like you found your happy ending. Nobody in the world could ask for more than that."
The man stood up, glancing at the heavy bracelet on his wrist, then looking back at the corpses that littered the hallway. He looked outside, through a window, an enormous wall looming in the distance. "Meanwhile... it seems like I'm still stuck here. A shame. Who knew this game would end with everyone being trapped here for an eternity? It's not a happy ending to say the least. Let's see... I still have, oh, maybe a few more millennia before this place crumbles into dust? I suppose I should kill some time.
He looked back at the computer screen, static blurring through it until it showed an image of a faceless man, standing in front of an amusement park. "It looks like you're up next, Antimony. I hope that you too will find your happy ending."
Two cloaked figures stood side by side, floating high in the sky above a massive crater in the ground below. It was a location that had once been known as Idolon Woods, but now had been obliterated by the monster unleashed to the world. One figure, the shorter one wearing a violet cloak, glanced up at the other, a tall figure wearing a dark cloak.
"Is this what you would call salvation, Nox?" the violet figure muttered.
"Yes..." the dark figure replied. "We must save the world."
"I wonder if this is what Nir wanted...?"
"Nir is not important anymore. You are the God of Nothingness now. So, my god, what is our next move?"
The violet figure made a gesture, a circular void appearing to the side. Images flashed through it, a boy holding a transparent sword, another wearing a heavy winter coat, a man in a white suit wearing a blindfold, another in a blue military uniform wearing a hat. Then she waved it aside and spoke.
"We eliminate the next one."
