『Okay, so. Trials in general have often been the topic lately. What with all the lack of motivation for some trials and randomly over-active trials. And about how to solve it. Many people tried many different things with trials:』
『1.Usually, when trials are forced in the season, after corpse is found, very often it becomes: "Meh, I wanted to progress plot more, lets get this over with quickly or ignore altogether" and it becomes few people investigating and others just continuing looking around for plot and then when it comes to trial, only those investigating seriously trying to solve trial and others just sheeping waiting for it to end and then voting randomly.』
『2.Usually, when trials aren't necessary and just go on at the same time as the game on the side and people are allowed to continue exploring and finding clues as trial goes on. It just makes those not interested, completely ignore trial whatsoever while allowing the investigators to search for clues and killers to clean clues while its going on. And often those ignoring will be just progressing the game meanwhile leaving those busy with trails behind while the trial become much more silent because of fewer people in it.』
『3.Few times there was a system used where first the suspect was selected and one person was defending them and other trying to prove them guilty. (DICE and Meta/kinda similar to MGT) Which really left whole trial up to 2 people, in most cases culprit and detective, and then other people voting for result(DICE) or just result being decided there and then.(Meta)』
『4.So called Rapid Fire Trial which was used once in No More Lies with everyone quickly discussing stuff in the Discord chat and quickly coming to conclusion which was both very active and kinda lacking in some clues stuff at the same time.』
『5.Pretty sure more stuff was tried which I can't come up, and then there are also trials used in other similar forums.』
『So I've been wondering of ways to make trials more active and also not ignored by people and randomly thought up of this system called Detective System. But I honestly am not too sure if it will help or make things worse.』
『Basically, what I thought of is: When an innocent person stumbles on the corpse, they are then able to request the mastermind to become Detective of that murder case and then receive Detective Authority which will give them few privileges:』
『1.The detective is able to call in all the other players and start the trial whenever they think they are able to solve the case. (Can also be started via certain number of other players calling on the trial)』
『2.The detective is able to say in red truth/verbal bullet that they are in fact a detective and aren't the culprit of this case.』
『3.The detective is able to ask people in trial to provide evidence to which any player including the culprit is supposed to provide a testimony.』
『4.The detective is able to make one theory with blue truth which if then stays unquestioned by both the players or the culprit would be considered the end result of the trial regardless of any other theories present.』
『5.The detective is able to tell if the trial ending with their theory was solved correctly or wrong.』
『And at the same time a bunch of restrictions:』
『1.The detective cannot be murderer or accomplice of any of the murders connected even remotely to this case. Once they become the detective, they cannot murder anyone until the case is solved and closed.』
『2.The detective cannot take on more than 1 case. They must bring the case to conclusion.』
『3.The detective must provide any clues or proof they have if they are asked for it.』
『4.The detective must not have any holes in their theory that can be questioned and all the theories must be based on some facts and not be guesses. Otherwise the theory becomes invalid.』
『5.The detective loses the ability to become the detective of any other case if the one they convicted with their theory was innocent.』
『So, thats it. What I basically think this might achieve is:』
『Pros:』
『1.Make innocent people more active by having one person they know they can trust to be innocent and trying to solve the case.』
『2.And then even if people don't care, the detective still won't be hindered by random culprit theory that will just make everyone else sheep vote for it.』
『Cons:』
『1.Leaving too much authority to single person so people who are sheep in their nature taking the detective authority might waste it or op detectives taking it and solving trial asap.』
『2.This also might just make others go "Ah, look, Sea is detective, lets just leave it to him and sleep" or "Look, Sea isn't detective, he must be culprit then."』
