SEASON MURDIMALS: A Chronicles of MMG Season
It was just another day on the forum, people mindlessly chatting away about their lives. A couple masterminds making maps and games, some students complaining about homework, the administrator ranting about the forum provider. A normal day on MMG. Or so you thought.
Someone pipes up in the chat, asking who had put that new board on the front page. Immediately the administrator bellowed asking about what this was and rushed off to the scene. Caught in your curiosity you followed after, refreshing the forums main page only to find a new board.
Season Murdimals
Around the same time you do, you imagine the admin saw the board as a wall of almost profanity flies into the chat about disrespect and rules and more of that TL;DR stuff. Wasn't often something super strange and interesting happened on the forum, so you decide to dig a little deeper and see if you can have some fun.
Clicking on the board, you find yourself on a page almost like the Password Required page when you try to access that secret plot board hidden during seasons. However, instead of asking for a password it is asking you a question and giving you a field with which to fill in your response.
"What is your Spirit Animal?"
With a thoughts like oooooooh and eh why not, you decide to keep on digging. After some thought you decide on an answer and put it in rapidly as the admins rant appears to be ending. If you wait any longer the admin might actually shut up long enough to remove the board. You look at your answer, smile and nod, and press the enter key waiting, hopeful for something fun.
The page loads for a moment, spinning circles of doom appearing as you ponder what might happen. The loading continues and with a resounding finality, the blue bear error screen shows up with the bear mauling a server. Guess the admin was working faster than normal today. You sigh and proceed to facedesk as you regret spending so long deciding on your answer to the question.
You stay there for a moment, when suddenly you feel something grab your shoulders and before you can react beyond a surprised yelp, yank you forwards. You get a face full of keyboard before everything goes black.
...Some Time Later...
With a dull ache in your head, you feel yourself waking up. Did you stay up to long on the forum last night, ugh, you don't feel so good. As you try to stumble to your feet, you realize you are lying on a field of grass... And you feel.... different.
You glance downwards to learn the strange truth.
You have turned into an animal!
Game Premise:
In Season Murdimals, you play as yourself, transformed into an animal body. You and your forum buddies have found yourselves trapped in a strange realm before being told the dreadful truth by a strange figure. The world is dog eat dog and if you want to return to your human form, you must kill one of your forum compatriots. Will you eat, will you be eaten, or will you band together into the greatest Zoo on the internet and show whoever is behind this who is the real Alpha dog?
The game follows basic rules, but with the obvious twist of being extremely varied in terms of body type. This means special movement rules depending on your form of locomotion and very different capabilities as animals. A bird can fly and aquatic creatures can swim. Mice and rabbits may be small and hard to notice as well as quite quick, but lacking in terms of offensive prowess.
In addition to your animal prowess, each person finds their forum self manifesting as a forum of Power. Instead of SHSL abilities, the name/personality of the player is converted into an almost magical ability that can be used and called upon at will.
Also, since the game does involve playing as your forum self, you will take in all your OOC knowledge about one another. So if I, EclipseZwolf, meet Seadrias in game then I already know who he is as we have known each other for sometime. I may not recognize him as his animal self, but person to person there is recognition.
This also means the fourth wall basically doesn't exist. Players obviously know and recognize verbal bullets, colored truths, and silly mechanics like abilities. NOW, this doesn't mean you have access to all the knowledge in the skype chat during the season. Only the knowledge you had prior to the game is yours. That doesn't mean you don't recognize skype in game, such as when you talk to other animal players with it(You didn't really think that even as an animal you would understand every one of the crazy noises they make did you?). Your character might even notice things such as host lag and their "developer commentary" they provide as your participate.
Character Application:
A very simple facet of this game, since you are playing as yourself, no need to have a personality description(Unless you are brand new to the site, then please, by all means introduce yourself). Besides that you need a spirit animal(what you turn into) which may or may not be accepted based on the game design. If you pick a goldfish, you may be rejected on the premise of being totally useless(Or not, maybe your ability is some BS level nonsense). Feel free to request a specific style of ability as well, since this is a transformation of you, your desires may very well have an effect!
The Map:
Currently, the idea for the map is along the idea of Zircon, with a large wilderness map. How this is handled, either with the Zircon movement system(probably not), the regular movement system, or something wholly different is TBD. The map will definitely feature a mixture of open air areas, water areas, and ground areas. Things like snow and other very specific features, such as rain forest, may be present, but they will most likely not take up major sections of the game. Currently, I am thinking of having the map separated into boards named after each form of locomotion. Each of those boards will be password locked and if a player possesses the form of locomotion required for the board, they will be told the password. EX: Walking, Flying, Swimming, Underwater, Climbing.
