The Town Outskirts

When you look behind you, you can barely seen the town because of all the dust. You start to notice several cross looking shapes in the dust ahead of you. As you approach, the dust clears for a moment, and you can see that the crosses were all around you.
The crosses are wooden markers, crudely made from nails or rope, binding them together. In the distance, you can see a hill, with something white on it. Grass, the first sign of life you've seen since you've gotten to this world, is everywhere.
