Twisty Unneeded Stairs

These stairs twist in a room that seems far too big to be realistic. Looking down the edge, you can not see the bottom of the room. The pictures on the walls seem to stare at you as you walk up the stairs. Some stairs even go upside down, but walking seems normal.
A giant blood pool is on the middle of the large staircase. The pool has a trial of blood that leads all the way up the staircase and through the door at the top.
On the walls, you see many portraits of many unrecognized people. They seem to always be watching you, and all seem to have no expression of any emotion.
