『Mafia Game: Zero Luminance (pending)』

『The next game in the Mafia Game Darkness series, next after MG Code: Manifestation. Since it is still a work in progress, some of the ideas might be changed by me, but once I fully finish thinking the stuff up, I'll create a new rules and whatnot thread in the game board later. This is kinda introduction and application to tell what generally to expect~ The game takes quite a bit of different stuff from everything, but is mostly based on Silent Hill series with quite few ideas taken from it. Anyhow, gonna kinda borrow Sea's formula in here:』
『Setting:』
『The game is set within a dark prison of a certain country. The country is a pretty new small country at the coasts of South America that has only about 50 or less years of history. Nevertheless it is still technically advanced and pretty rich country. The prison that the game is going to happen in is a very old prison, much older then the country itself but still renovated quite a bit to match the image of the country. It is the biggest prison and perhaps most known prison in the country and is pretty much known to any criminal or just curious about this stuff folk in the world. The most known fact is that nobody who got imprisoned in here, ever escaped here in any way known. It has different wards for all kinds of prisoners from kids to heavy criminals and even has it's own court where if you are found guilty, you are immediately thrown behind the bars there and then. Another famous fact about the prison is the big metal doors which are the only way in or out of the prison, whenever they open, they do it loudly and showy, so if you are inside the prison when they close it, you know that you will likely never get out through them back outside. And in such prison, you are being imprisoned. Yes, you are just another prisoner in this big prison, locked behind bars for reasons varying. And on of the normal days as you just stare through the locked bars you cannot do anything about in the dark cell at the person in the cell opposite of yours, you hear the sound of the prison doors opening, the sound which could be heard from anywhere in the prison. And after that a whole lot of stuff happens that I don't wanna spoil yet and you are let out of your cell to roam the now locked all around prison trying to understand what is going on as one thing happens after another.』
『Movement and Inventory:』
『The movement in the game will just be the same old MMG movement system as explained in general rules. Inventory will likely be the same.』
『Phases and time limit:』
『My older games used day and night phases switching each hosting irl day, but here in this prison, you have no clue what time it is outside and when, so there won't be any. Not decided on it quite yet, but there might or might not be a time limit still. I will announce if there will be, later. I have a special mechanic for that in mind so I most likely will be making that time limit (or at least it will be something close to it)』
『Criminal Perks:』
『Based on the crime and reason you have been imprisoned for, you will get a small special perk. Think of it as usual SHSL perks in the mmg games.』
『Now then, I don't think I will be able to explain much else before I explain the main mechanics of the game:』
『Otherword:』
『The game map will be split in two worlds. The normal world, and Otherworld. Those who know Silent Hill will just be able to tell what it is from the name, but for those who don't, I'll explain in few words: It is basically the dark, changed and much distorted version of the normal world that is A LOT more dangerous. You should google Silent Hill Otherworld for more info. The players will be able to almost freely go from one world to another through the mirrors. But there will be tricks about it explained later. Here are some points about the Otherworld:
- The players kinda exist at the same time in both worlds, but will only be able to control one yourself. (more about it later)
- They can be killed in any and both of this worlds, but, as long as yourself in the other world survives, you will still be able to revive in the world you died after doing some stuff in the world you are left alive.
- If you are killed in both worlds, you will die permanently and lose the game.
- In the normal world, only players will be able to kill, while in the Otherworld EVERYTHING will be out to kill you.
- If a player is killed in Normal World, there will be an Investigation and Trial happening about the murder. If the player is killed in Otherworld, nothing of that will happen and people will move on... unless, it was another player doing the killing in which case something special might happen?』
『Trials:』
『When player is killed in normal world and the body is found, if you do a certain thing, you will be able to start Investigation and Trial. Investigations and Trial will be conducted as normal. But there won't be any murder report, and it will be possible to just completely ignore dead body and start nothing. Only 1 culprit will be able to be voted down for in trial.』
『Character Weapons:』
『Players will be able to obtain special weapons which are customly made for them by me. These are weapons or items which are better than usual weapons you would find on the map. Points of the CWs:
- CWs will be forged by players who do a special rite. For the right, you will have to collect the normal world version of the weapon, otherworld version of the weapon and then tie them together using special item.
- In normal world, CWs will just act as normal weapons or items and you probably won't recognize that they are special in any way from first sight.
- In Otherworld, CWs will look differently and have their special properties to act as powerful weapons.』
『Battle system:』
『The game will have it's special battle system based on weapons and points. I am still considering the stuff about it, so everything I say here isn't final. Basically, it is a system that gives you battle points depending on weapons you have. If you have more than a certain amount of battle points than your opponent and you attempt to fight head-on, you will skip fight and win instantly. There will also be bonus and stuff depending on circumstances though. (like sneak-attacks, range and whatnot)』
『Madness:』
『Usually, in past games, the madness has been a point system where I would give you points as you do crazy stuff and then when you collected enough, Mad Host would contact you and you get a power-up. But in this game there will be no such system. But do know that madness is still a thing and still will work in a bit different way. (I kinda leave this out in secret so people don't abuse it)』
『Puzzles:』
『Unfortunately for some, more fortunately for Sea(?), the puzzles will make their return yet again and there will be a lot of puzzles that will be necessary for plot and game progression. I am kinda developing new ways of incorporating puzzles seamlessly into the game and lowering their overall difficulty though. There probably won't be any White Rooms or Mirror Puzzles (never told how to solve that and won't for now) without enough clues available for everyone out there.』
『Endings:』
『As with Code: M, there will be lots of extra stuff out there to find and do to unlock different endings. How you will go about normal game stuff will also be affecting this.』
『Story and plot:』
『There will be story and plot explanation for EVERYTHING happening in the game, look forward to it ^_^』
『Well, otherwise, that is pretty much it. But need to know, while originally I thought to host this game in June, I found myself quite busy with ff14 and random irl stuff, which kinda left me with a severe lack of motivation and inspiration. So I am 80% sure I will not be able to host in June. That might change if I miraculously suddenly get a fit of inspiration and finish everything quickly, but I highly doubt that would happen. :/』
