Mastermind Name: Pokedude
Previous Mastermind Experience: None
Reason for Application:
1) Having participated in a number of seasons, I am gradually becoming more understanding of the Mastermind role. However, I still have little experience with the tasks that go on behind-the-scenes, the back-breaking pains that can make a season enjoyable. As such, actually participating as a Mastermind will help me better understand the other players through their actions and the process of mechanic creation; and hopefully I'll learn how to become a smarter player, whichever role I take up. (i.e. gameplay)
2) Like a number of the other players here, I also enjoy building worlds and the stories that happen in those worlds. Being a Mastermind will grant me some experience in building these stories and help me hone my thought process and logic in terms of both plot and character development. Naturally, the inclusion of NPCs and Players will help me balance roles among them as well. (i.e. plot)
First Season Idea: For my first season, I intend to build a story in a post-apocalyptic world, ravaged by a number of calamities over an undefined period of time. The premise will involve the players following the trail of a rumor that claims that humanity can be revived from its fallen state. The state of the world itself is similar to most depictions of a destroyed world, with wreckages of cities, fissures swallowing up numerous civilizations, storms uprooting countless survivors and their homes, and so on. However, these calamities have shifted between dormancy and aggression over time; and currently, they're resting, so you guys should hurry and beat the season before that changes. The rumor itself entails a transformation of the human race, though none of the rumors explain the meaning well at all.
I regret this already
The gameplay will stay similar to the basic MMG method of gameplay, with the exception of the Ability System I've been working on for some time. As such, the gameplay and plot should be very simple compared to recent seasons; it may even be underwhelming for a number of veteran players. The map will be a locked-in area, so there will be no exploring the outside world; though at this time, I am anticipating eight floors, two of which will be restricted in terms of action, due to my inexperience and another factor that will be discussed below.
This season is not complete and will likely not be complete for a considerable amount of time. As such, I will not request a Season Application until it is approx. 85% complete, with all the necessary details planned and charted at that time.
Desired Mastermind Level: Due to the nature of the Ability System I have in mind, I'm certain it will qualify as a Star-1 MM Rank. Furthermore, there will be few (and of a limited time) exceptions to the norm of MMG gameplay. As such, the Star-1 MM Rank should be suitable for my opening season. If this season succeeds and I am found suitable as a Mastermind, I may continue the story further in another season. As such, the ending obtained may be vague in some respects, though a majority of the information found should be made clear enough to determine the players' situation in the epilogue. However, the following mechanics may warrant a Star-2 MM Rank, though they probably aren't atrociously tedious (with the exception of the last one):
1) The primary example is that players will have a time limit to clear the first two floors before a natural disaster consumes you all. This time limit is largely prepared and should be long enough for players to unlock the next floor, which brings me to the second point.
2) After a certain period, previous floors will be blocked off. This event will occur three times, the first two being after F1 and after F2. The last will occur later, after a certain point in the season. The periods when this will occur will be notably obvious, so they shouldn't be surprising when they are encountered. Also, with the exception of the floors with timers, there will be ample time for players to sort through the floor information before moving on... unless others forcibly move on to the next floor. I will be exploring this mechanic with a veteran Mastermind.
3) Lastly, I intend to apply a "rumor system" similar to Ravan's, in S: Frigid Coffin. This variant will refer only to information related to plot and will occur passively between players. The way this works is that when a small portion of the playerbase learns something, that information will automatically be passed on to others until it becomes common knowledge. That knowledge will then be added to a thread that any player can access at any time during the season. This information will never involve murders, as well as plot-irrelevant info. With this method, I, as the Mastermind, will control what info flows into the thread, and potentially when. There should be few ways for players to abuse this system in the wrong manner. I will be exploring this mechanic with a veteran Mastermind.
