Season 1 The Pesky Investigator
Character: Seadrias Progression: Died in the 2nd murder, revived with the Judgment arcana. Trait: Curiosity
Seadrias began as a naïve, curious investigator, just getting to know his circumstances. He entered the game thinking how ridiculous murdering someone was, and had faith that nobody would ever do such a thing. Seadrias thought that he would solve the mystery behind the game, and that everyone would work together with him in doing so.
Seadrias was the first to begin looking for clues related to the mysterious second objective, and was rewarded with small hints towards what went on in the mansion previously. However, he was interrupted as the first murder unfolded. RawForce's death was the first to strike fear into his heart, as murder had become very real. During the trial, Seadrias arrived very late, and was forced to make a hasty attempt at solving the murder. He had narrowed down the suspects to one Xiaheather and VTKajin. But in his haste, he was not able to review all of the evidence properly and made the wrong decision in the end. Having the key to saving the victim of the trial, Zaidann, only furthered his grief.
After the trial, Seadrias scrambled to look for more clues, hoping to achieve victory before any more lives could be lost. He was met Lexi, another person looking to do the same thing as he was. Seadrias was delighted at first, meeting and working together with a fellow investigator. He was invited into Lexi's room where he conducted further investigations. But unknowingly Seadrias had fallen into the grasp of an alliance that aimed to massacre the entire population of the mansion, and he was met with death in Lexi's room.
A while later, Seadrias, still stunned at sudden betrayal, was offered a deal by the mastermind. He would be revived, and given a permanent seat in the inquisition room. Of course, Seadrias accepted without hesitation, still under the belief that he could achieve victory without any more loss of life.
Finally, as Seadrias's reincarnation came into existence, another murder had occurred. Seadrias, forced to abandon his search for the truth, hurriedly moved to solve the murder. However, in the end, he was unable to continue due to a sudden fire that occurred right after the trial. Thus Seadrias perished, the truth forever out of his reach.

Season 2The AnalystCharacter: Byakuya Togami Progression: Died in a suicide, revived with the Judgment arcana, unknown what happened in the end Trait: Victory at any cost In the second game, Seadrias returned with a relatively similar goal. He would solve the mystery behind these games and finally achieve the victory he so greatly sought. Having experienced such a devastating betrayal in the first game, Seadrias vowed to win the second game solely by himself. However, he was again approached by like-minded individuals offering their assistance in solving the mystery. At first, Seadrias was hesitant, but ultimately decided to join forces in a loose confederation. During the events of the pregame, Seadrias immediately filtered out anyone who seemed insignificant, concentrating on only the members of his alliance, the seemingly insane and bloodthirsty second mastermind, and a somewhat reserved player named ESP. He judged each of them for their worth in his plans and proceeded to treat them as such. As the game began, Seadrias once again searched for clues relating to the mystery. He discovered a hidden door to the crypt, containing information crucial to the mystery. Then, the first murder came. However, Seadrias was prepared this time, and made much more insightful theories than he had in the first game. This was also when Seadrias discovered the gap between a select few players including himself, and the others. There was a relative intelligence gap present, with himself, VTKajin, and ESP standing above the rest. However, Seadrias dismissed this idea as irrelevant, assuming that the other players simply weren't present due to other reasons. As the game progressed, and the path to the mystery continued to unfold, Seadrias discovered an obstacle to his objective. A player named Thraximundar had decided to take every item for himself, going so far as to knocking out other players in order to add items to his collection. Seadrias clashed with Thraximundar several times, even using his Judgment arcana to try and deal with him. However, when his attempt was countered with the Strength arcana, Seadrias decided it was time to cut his losses and move on with the mystery. As Juneko's and Mystio's murders turned the game upside down, Seadrias struggled to retain his seat as Judgment in the inquisition room. After another series of murders, and more new floors opening, the time had come for the final trial. During the previous trial, it had also become clear just how incredible ESP's deductive skills were. In the final trial, Seadrias proceeded to present his evidence and theories on how the game had come into being. He had the help of VTKajin, and EvilKyou, but no other players would step up to solving the mystery. This was when the difference Seadrias had realized between himself and the others made itself startlingly clear. Having others help him was pointless, because they wouldn't be able to provide any greater insight than he could himself. At the end of the final trial, the mastermind revealed the failure of his deduction. He had missed the most crucial point of the mystery by a mere name. And so, Seadrias cursed his own incompetency, having victory so close yet so far away.

Season 2.5The Artificial IntelligenceCharacter: Alter Ego Progression: Artificial intelligence serving under Emna Personality: Tries to be cheerful and comforting to the players During the minigame in the events between the 2nd and 3rd game, Seadrias was brought in as an artificial intelligence in charge of monitoring the game. In the mastermind's place, Emna Tandris stood, watching the events unfold. Emna had assigned Seadrias a vital role in preserving the city which he treasured. There would be a group of players who had spread despair across countless other places who would venture into the city. Seadrias's assignment would be to give the players a game of mutual killing, thin their numbers, and eventually wipe them out. Assisting him in this mission, Aklita Temris was assigned to keep an eye out for anyone who managed to get close enough to solving the mystery of the game, as Seadrias had always attempted to do. Thankfully, too much infighting occurred between the players for anyone to even come close to realizing the truth. During this game, Seadrias also found a new respect for Riven, previously known as ESP, who had managed to solve even the most impossible of murders on her own. However, in the final murder of the game, Riven had been killed, and VTKajin walked away as the victor just before Emna gave the command to flood the city, purging it of any remaining members of the despair group. Aklita had also been given orders to kill anyone who managed to leave the city alive, thus VTKajin was also killed. In the end, Seadrias didn't really have to do much.

Season 3A Smooth Road with a Single Gaping HoleCharacter: Byakuya Togami Progression: Relatively smooth start, died at the hands of his imposter in the end Trait: Leader-like The third game came to a surprisingly mild start. Players cooperated with each other, a consensus not to murder had been reached, in general people seemed willing to help in solving the mystery opposed to repeatedly murdering each other. Seadrias worked alongside many of the other players in this game, as his ideal of everyone working together in order to achieve victory was actually happening. Of course, MonobAir wouldn't stand for that, and orchestrated several murders in order to try and break the stalemate the group had come to, but these trials were overcome relatively easily. Finally, as the last floor was almost within his grasp, Seadrias made a fatal error. As he moved to examine the room where all the secrets to the mystery were stored, he was intercepted by an angry Thraximundar, and was abruptly killed. During the trial, Seadrias pondered over the choice of a simple, direct murder, or a setup involving an accomplice. As he did this, he once again discussed the murder again with Riven, and was once again amazed at her deductive ability. However, being dead, Seadrias was unable to do anything to change the outcome the group had decided upon, and in the end everyone was executed.

Season 3.5Tests of DespairCharacter: Emna Tandris Progression: Mastermind of the despair tests Trait: Sacrifice for the greater good The city of Avrak had once been a city filled with hope. Even after Humanity's Most Despair Inducing incident, the citizens lived on thanks to the combined efforts of Aklita and Emna. However, as seeds of despair were sown within the remaining citizens, Emna was forced to make a decision. He would lock everyone away in a chamber deep underground, and preserve them in cryogenic sleep. Then he would conduct a series of tests. Tests to determine where the citizens truly stood on the edge of hope and despair. And so, the games of mutual killings began. The games were relatively simple. Emna would take a group of around 15 to 20 citizens and lock them in a building. He would command his artificial intelligence program, Seadrias, to tell the citizens that the only way out of the building was to kill another person. There would be another way out, of course, but the citizens would have to cooperate to find it. Aklita would also be stationed within the game to keep order and prevent any chaotic mishaps. These tests proceeded relatively smoothly, with most of the groups cooperating to escape the building. A few groups, ones with a large number of people who had fallen into despair, failed, and were thus annihilated. The games went on like this for some time. After a while, Emna came to a difficult situation. In his efforts to stop the despair that was spreading throughout the city, he had locked even his own friends away in cryogenic sleep. What should he do? Simply let them out freely? But what if they carried the seeds of despair with them? Finally, Emna decided to go through with the test. But this time it would be different. He would command Seadrias to assist the group in their escape rather than have them kill one another. And so, for this special test, Emna constructed an enormous game, comprised of several square miles of land. Aklita would judge their progress in the end, while he himself watched from behind the scenes as always. At first, the group did relatively well. They quickly cooperated and escaped the underground and aboveground areas. However, the test was proceeding a little too quickly, so Emna commanded Aklita to stall the group at the suspension bridge. At this point, a player from the group, Rin Tohsaka, had somehow made her way into the highlands near the tower. Emna immediately took action, as Rin had been previously branded a murderer, Emna swiftly killed her, leaving her body for the others to find. A day later, Aklita made her retreat and the game resumed its pace. But this time, things were different. Murderous intentions had sprouted within the group, and several of the players suddenly committed murders one after the other. As Emna watched, he felt a brief pang of grief at his once-peaceful friends. He should have failed the group right then and there, but he felt that he should give them one last chance. And so, he commanded Seadrias to open the last of the hidden rooms and awaited the group's arrival in the tower. As the players filed into the tower, Emna sat at his control station in the second floor, monitoring the test as he always did. A few players approached him, and one named Phi even knocked him out. He was somewhat exasperated at this, but told himself it was only because they didn't remember. Finally, the time came for the final trial. At first his friends were relatively successful, gathering the clues he had planted for them to discover the truth. But then, they began faltering. In the end, they had completely failed to realize the most important factor of all. The test was to measure the extent of despair within the group, not to weed out some imaginary "infection". And so, Emna was forced to make a retreat back to Avrak, leaving his friends to die in the nuclear fire that followed. All for the greater good, he told himself. All for the greater good.

Season QA Brief Flash of HopeCharacter: Nagito Komaeda Progression: Prominent investigator, killed by Mystio Trait: Hope Komaeda had been drifting throughout the void his life had become until he received a notice from a man named Emna. Emna wanted him to participate in a game: a game of mutual killing and despair like he had experienced once before. Komaeda didn't know the purpose of this game, or what it entailed, but he knew that where there was despair, he would be there to crush it with hope. As soon as Komaeda entered the game, he was greeted by a very pink and fluffy mastermind named Zero IV. Of course, Komaeda wasn't fooled by this display. He had learned from past experience with Monokuma and Monomi that appearances were not to be trusted. The game began with the players scrambling for clues to find a way out, or items to defend themselves with. Komaeda remained calm throughout this initial chaos and examined the premises thoroughly, finding several keys in the process. He then gathered his fellow players and opened the door to the second island. With this great feat of hope accomplished, Komaeda slept soundly that night. The next day, Komaeda awoke to discover that his fellow players had already opened the path to the third island. He began to rejoice, as this marked a new milestone for hope within the group. As he explored the new island, however, Komaeda discovered that someone was interfering with the puzzles to unlock the secrets of the mystery. Of course, such an act of despair could not be tolerated, and Komaeda grabbed the nearest pickaxe and immediately set out to find the perpetrator. After a while of searching and knocking out people, Komaeda received word from a player named Mystio that she had found the culprit, June. As Mystio went on, however, Komaeda realized there were some blatant contradictions in what she was saying. She claimed that her inventory was full, but could still drag June's body around. Furthermore, she was saying she still had a scuba suit on while he had clearly seen her exchange it for a school uniform earlier. But, Komaeda had known Mystio to be a symbol of hope from the previous games, and decided to ignore these inconsistencies and put his trust in her. He arrived at the hot springs sometime later, expecting to find June there. But there was only Mystio, holding a taser and a bat, standing menacingly before him. Then, just as Komaeda realized he had been betrayed, he was promptly knocked out and killed. Emna watched these events unfold from the portal, frowning in disgust at his former friend's betrayal. He entered a command into the main computer and made an announcement regarding Mystio's crime, thus sealing her fate. Next time, Emna promised himself. Mystio would pay for what she had done.

Season BloodshiftDemon of EternityCharacter: Nue Houjuu Progression: Murderer, killed by Raiden, revived, served as a spy for Emna after recovering some of her memories Trait: Killer's mindset Nue had been peacefully living at Myouren Temple when she was abruptly kidnapped. She attempted to fight back, but no matter what she did, her assailant wouldn't die. The kidnapper, Aklita, brought her to Emna, who would give her a task in exchange for her freedom. Emna had heard rumors that someone in a tower far away had developed a method to revive the dead. He gave Nue the task of discovering the secret behind this method. And so the game began. During the prologue, having lost her memories, Nue had no idea what she was doing in the tower. She decided that she should escape as quickly as possible and return to the temple. However, while searching for an exit, Nue was attacked by Raiden and promptly killed. This annoyed her somewhat after she was brought back to life after her attacker was convicted, but there was something that bothered her about the revival. Something she had forgotten about... Then the floor transitioned into the next stage and Nue was left utterly confused once again. This time, however, she decided to just kill 2 people and leave, seeing as that was what the mastermind had promised. While searching for a viable weapon, Nue stumbled across a box containing plastic replicas of Immortal Weapons. This, along with a note containing Emna's name were enough to trigger a mental relapse, and allow Nue to recover some of her memories. Upon realizing that her task was to find the secret of reviving the dead, Nue took it upon herself to thoroughly investigate every murder in hopes of finding some clue as to how they could be revived. After several investigations, convicting the culprit every time so that she could witness another revival, Nue began to realize that the secret to the revivals were connected closely with whatever was going on in the tower. And so, Nue took it upon herself to make an attempt to solve the tower's mysteries as well. To do this, she needed to advance to the next stage. The frequent murders had been enough to get the group to chapter 2, but the road to the 3rd stage wouldn't be so easy. Caught up in her investigations of the documents she had found so far, Nue made a theory as to how to reach the next stage. She called Lloyd Bannings over to the Room of Life in attempt to test her theory. However, Lloyd was followed by the overseer of the game, Ragna, as well as the recently revealed mastermind, Aeturnus. This, while threatening, told Nue she was on the right track. As more people began to realize something important was happening, more players gathered in the Room of Life. Nue made an attempt to carry out her plans, but the situation quickly escalated until it became an all-out brawl with Aeturnus. During this time, Nue made another discovery. A key was hidden in the 16th pod of the Room of Life. Nue quickly took the key and conducted a tactical retreat. After some talk with the other players, it was agreed that all important items should be gathered in the Blood Room to try and reach the next stage. Nue did some experiments with the strange bottles and containers gathered there, along with a strange hand made from blood gears. And while she did discover that Aeturnus's blood was what was in the strange bottle, she didn't find a way to the next stage. Just as she was about to lose hope, Seija Kijin, a fellow yokai, mentioned a keyhole she had found in the throne of the Blood Room. Nue instantly jumped to action and used her key to unlock the throne. And so the game proceeded to the next stage. After a final attempt to gather information on the mystery, Nue decided she would make another attempt to murder in order to see the revival system one more time. However, her murder plans did not succeed and Nue was forced onto the final floor. As the final trial proceeded, Nue went over the information she had gathered and began a debate with Aeturnus. Finally, as the curtain rose on the 12 Strikes of Eternity, Aeturnus's last trial, Nue watched as Alice descended onto the scene... and died. She watched Lloyd suffer the same fate. Then it was her turn. Nue unleashed everything she had against Aeturnus, even copying some attacks from the buddhist monk she lived with in the temple. Aeturnus struck back with the body of Alice, each time damaging Nue's blood weapon more and more, until finally her weapon broke, and her Eternity Weapon was forged. With the success of the plan, and somehow avoiding certain death, Aeturnus promptly revived all of the players and invited them to a dance party on the top of the tower. Nue silently slipped out during the party, going back to her home at Myouren Temple. She felt a slight nagging in the back of her mind to go report back to Emna about how the revival worked, but decided against it. If he wanted to kidnap her again, he would have an Eternity Weapon to deal with. ================================================================== Emna stands on the top floor of his headquarters, looking down on the various reconstruction projects throughout the city, being completed by his citizens. He places his hand on the window, checking the time. "The demon is late," Emna mutters to himself. She was likely dead, or found some means of escape and ran away. Which meant that he would remain in the dark about this mysterious method of bringing back the dead. Of course, that was to be expected. She knew nothing of his plight, and cared not for the battle he fought. Emna presses his head against his forearm and closed his eyes. His endless battle against despair... -To be continued in S4.5-

Season 4Blade of TruthCharacter: Youmu Konpaku Progression: Heavily investigated all deaths, believing them to be murder. Suspected to have died in the fire with Kubota Trait: Seeking truth over everything else Youmu entered the manor just as all of her fellow former high school peers did. She waited in the lounge for a while, awaiting the arrival of the former student council president, Shion, but after an hour or so, she decided to go looking for her. After searching for some time, Youmu heard a cry coming from the library, and promptly rushed over. There she found Shion's dead body along with a book containing images of all of her former classmates and autopsy reports. Shion's writing in the book implied a curse was going around killing her former classmates, but Youmu didn't believe it. Youmu conducted an immediate autopsy and further examination of the room. There she found 3 missing screws from the chandelier and concluded that Shion had been murdered. Her classmates then proceeded to look around the manor for any clues they could find relating to Shion's death or the curse. Youmu examined the Kitchen, encountering her former student council vice president, Noire. The two talked for a little, and Youmu remembered something unpleasant that had occurred in her past, but didn't waste too much time dwelling on it, as finding the culprit was most crucial. At the same time, a thunderstorm had begun to rage outside, while another classmate, Kubota, went missing in his room. Everyone gathered outside his room later on, and found a charred corpse on the balcony. There was much debate on how Kubota died, and while many thought of it as a curse, or a murderer jumping from balcony to balcony, Youmu deduced that the culprit could have easily gone through the front door using a missing wire. She also suspected the corpse being fake, and requested Marta to cut it up and see if it was human. And although the body turned out to be human, Youmu kept it in the back of her mind. The group's exploration turned out to be fruitless, as there were many locked rooms in the manor. However, Youmu found that one of the doors on the third floor was not locked, but rather blocked by something heavy. She called on the group to assist her, and after a while, Zwolf came up with an axe and broke the door open. Inside was the Infirmary, where an interesting discovery was made. There was a hole leading down from the Infirmary to the Library where Shion had died. This easily proved the possibility of Shion's death. Afterwards, Youmu found a tape with a date on it. Noire said it was from president Shion, and Youmu felt that watching it would help them find out who her killer might be. However, this plan was foiled by a sudden blackout which caused both Jacques to die, and the tape to go missing. Youmu, who had suspected that she was the cursed one or murderer due to previous incidents, was relieved to find out that she was not. Noire and Zwolf went down to the basement to restore the lights. After some debate on Jacques's death, Youmu headed down to the garden to try and unlock the shed. To her surprise, the shed was already unlocked. Then Sova approached her and told her about a rock she had found next to some glass shards far away from the window. The two concluded that this had been the method of killing Jacques. Youmu decided that it was time to track the killer, and began sealing rooms with tape. The situation became even more complicated as Xerces was murdered separately from the curse, just as Halisi met his end in a locked room. Youmu concluded that the culprit must have had some sort of master key, as the tape around the attic had been removed. She disregarded Xerces as he had nothing to do with the true culprit. A little later, after Marta mysteriously died in front of Skull Kid's door, Youmu called everyone into the Infirmary for what she hoped to be a final trial to deduce the identity of the culprit. She questioned many of the players and reasoned with the evidence she had. She found that Emil would have had to been the one to kill both Marta and Xerces, since his testimony, that only he and Noire had been in the 1st floor hallway, would have had to have been a lie, otherwise nobody could have committed the crime. This would prove to be one of two fatal mistakes. However, the trial was interrupted as everyone began recovering their memories of a fire at the school, Zwolf was pinned down as a suspect for being the cursed one. The cars in front of the manor were taken, and Zwolf disappeared along with Maizono, Skull Kid, Red, Emil, and John Smith. Youmu just marveled at their idiocy. Once again, Youmu was left to find out the true culprit behind the murders, and with John Smith's death, she finally had a way out. The culprit must have murdered John Smith outside of the manor, seeing as his body could not be found anywhere inside. Thus, assuming the culprit wanted everyone dead, the only one to return from the excursion would have to be the culprit. Youmu divided her remaining peers into teams. Noire, Sova, and Kanade would watch the secret entrance in the basement, and she herself, Lloyd, Kurumi, and Kirigiri would watch the front entrance from the Library. This would be her second fatal mistake. With nobody watching the garden, Emil who had returned to the manor, easily snuck inside and set the place on fire. Youmu quickly led Kurumi to the guest rooms, while Lloyd had run downstairs earlier to investigate a gunshot he had heard. She found Lloyd and the others waiting in the garden, and threw Kurumi down for them to catch. However, Youmu was stopped by Kubota before she could jump to safety. Confronted by Kubota, Youmu prepared for battle. In the heat of the moment, Youmu had discarded her knife, which left her at a disadvantage, but managed to disarm Kubota as well. Kubota then grabbed her and pinned her down, leaving them both to die in the explosion that followed. But Youmu was satisfied, knowing that she had taken the true culprit out with her. It had been a heroic death.

Season 4.5 Memories of Despair
Emna sits back down in his office, crossing off the name of the demon on his list. He had heard from other survivors of the game, the revival system had been taken care of.
A knock brought his attention back. Aklita enters, holding another report.
"What is it?" Emna asks.
Aklita hands the report wordlessly to Emna. The man glances over it and frowns.
"Another one?" Emna says. "How many is that now?"
"Too many," Aklita says. "You can't possibly resolve this on your own."
"That might be true..." Emna says. "The city's repairs are taking up most of our manpower. Not many citizens are available."
"I'd suggest you seek help from elsewhere," Aklita says. "I can send out invitations if you like."
"Yes, do that," Emna says, filing the report away. "Once we have resolved this crisis, Avrak might find peace again."
Aklita nods and walks out the door. Emna looks back out into his city.
"Perhaps this will be my final journey," Emna says quietly to himself.
