Hiya folks. I've been thinking about this idea for a season for ages and I had a sudden burst of inspiration, so without further ado, allow me to introduce... season... something... god **** it, I have no actual title yet. Maybe something to do with the cold, so potential titles include but are not limited to frost, subzero, flash freeze, diamond dust, winter's bite, something something something. I guess that's a tad bit worrisome for a host, but everything else is fleshed out to an extent where I can present it, I feel. Let's see, following the application guidelines...
The season basically is about you guys, a class, gathering together for a trip at a winter resort-esque area. It'll be a tad bit different from the norm, with players being allowed to mess around outdoors as well as indoors. I hope this can lead to some interesting and potentially creative ideas for murder.
Specific rules that I'd like to impose on players that are subject to change as I continue to work this out would be something like this.
- Hunger is a thing, do try to keep eating. It shouldn't be difficult to remain full unless you or somebody else deliberately disposes of food, or if you're feeling rather ill, or what have you. If you're feeling creative or excessively bored or feel like messing around with food, fire away.
- This is going to be a rather chilly season, partly due to how close it is to winter, and partly due to my own experiences here in Norway. I figured that a chillier season may open up some new options for murder. One example may be that it is snowing outside, and you just so happen to have committed a murder. You might flee the scene of the crime, but you'd leave footprints for a short amount of time. Do you take the time to erase them as you move further, or do you simply run off and hope that the snow covers your tracks later? I'm hoping that the environment may be used for some interesting things, so go wild!
- Communication is going to be somewhat limited depending on your location. Seeing as this takes place during the modern day, it's understandable that high schoolers such as yourselves would have things such as cellphones, laptops, portable handheld consoles, you name it. I can imagine you folks hating to go to some resort with no internet, so I'll let you guys talk to each other whenever at first, but you never know when the power could get cut off, or when you might not be able to get any signal.
- Try to have fun!
For character creation, I'd like you guys to give me applications that contain a name, an SHSL title and preferrably an image of your character. If you do not have an image of your character, a very detailed description would suffice I suppose. I might want to ask for height and weight as well, though I guess I can judge that based on an image of your characters as well.
The setting is at a winter resort, essentially. You and your classmates decided to save up for a trip to a local winter resort during the winter, as it looked totally awesome. You will be able to wander around the lodge/villa/cabin/resort/pick your poison as well as leave it for periods of time to explore the great outdoors. Be sure to dress warmly, because you're headed out into the great... freezing outdoors. Who knows what you and your fellow classmates may find after all? I was hoping to make this have a bit of a survival horror sort of feeling to it, though we will be having a bit of a lighthearted pre-game to ease you guys into things as well as for me to help you guys with creating abilities that will be enjoyable to use.
Plot is something that I really don't want to give away, as just hinting something miiight be wrong would just ruin the happy illusion we have in place here! We don't want that, right? Right? Right.
Special considerations would be... I'd like to do host a pre-game before going through with the actual game. This will be my first time hosting, so I'd like to get some experience and be prepared for what the real thing will actually be like. Depending on how poorly I handle this (here's hoping I don't!), I'll consider implementing a sort of energy system to set a soft limit on how much a single person can investigate per hour or so. Other than that, I'm open to trying to get it ready a bit after my math exam on the 28th of November, and I'll be available to host it from the end of November to the 17th of December, as I'll be taking a vacation over in London there until the 24th. I should be free for anything after that point as well if you guys would rather have it then.
I should be able to host at any time, seeing as my sleep schedule is easy enough to break apart, so if you guys could give me your preferred times, that'd be great. I'll try and balance it around everybody as best I can. Could also just go with the good ol' 4 hours of sleep along with naps every few hours to keep myself going.
Well, that's that! I hope everybody enjoys this and I hope that you guys will offer criticism so I can get used to this. It's good to have more hosts when others are busy, right? Quality over quantity is a thing though, so I'd like to do my best with this, rather than throw out something uninteresting. Thank you for reading.
