『In Zero Luminance, I would be trying to test a new inventory system. I would put a name of it here, but there isn't really a name for it unless I just forgot. It is a system that was suggested by Eclipse earlier and I decided to put in my game for testing.』
『Unlike the usual system where all items have their own weight and one player can only carry up to 5, unless some special abilities allowing for more, this new system only has few size categories for items and players can only carry a certain amount of certain size objects.』
『Item Size Categories:』
『Small Items - Pens, Pencils, Small Knives, Forks, Spoons, Papers, Flashlights etc - Items that are either small or weight very little AND can be fit into pockets.』
『Medium Items - Machetes, Kitchen Knives, Iron Pipes, Lamps, Torches, Books, etc - Items that are too big to fit into pockets but can be carried in one hand.』
『Large Items - Hammers, Shovels, Chairs, Pickaxes, Swords, etc - Items that can only be held with both hands.』
『Extra Large Items - Big Furniture, Corpses, other heavy etc - Items that can't be picked up alone normally.』
『Clothes - Well, uhhh, clothes - Wearing clothes doesn't take space, but carrying them around makes them count as Medium Items. Though there are exceptions.(swimsuits/underwear will count as small and heavy armors as large items)』
『Player Inventory:』
『Players can hold as many small items as they have pockets and open hands. *I am still balancing how many pockets players will have and how many small items they can fit. (obviously you would only be able to fit one flashlight in a pocket, but more than one pen for example) Currently I am planning to have each player have only 2 pockets.』
『Players can only hold up to 2 medium items for each hand. *And if you have 2 medium items, you won't be able to use the small items you have in your pockets during fights.』
『Players can only hold 1 large item in both of their hands and if they don't have any medium items in their hands. *Same thing as for medium items applies in fights.』
『Players cannot normally pick up extra large items alone unless some special circumstances allow them to, but they can still drag most of them around. Dragging extra large items leaves dragging marks regardless what item it is. *Beware that some extra large items still can't be moved at all.』
『Players can grab and wear different Clothes items without really affecting their Inventory. Carrying more clothes around without wearing will count as items of respective category though. But some clothes like say swimsuits won't have pockets thus disallowing you to carry small items, while clothes like Heavy Armor will limit you to only 1 Medium Item. (still deciding whether allowing players to heavy armor + large item)』
『Going with this system, normally rucksacks, bags, etc would allow you to carry much more items. But, I currently don't have plans of adding them into ZL where I test this system first. (might change my mind before game starts)』
『Feel free to to comment about your opinions on the system and questions/ideas/concerns here though.』
