This room is a large, gymnasium-style room with bleachers at the sides and a platform on the far end with a podium on it. The podium has an enormous computer screen that hangs from above it. A large table has been set up in the center of the room with 20 chairs around it. A tape recorder is bolted to the table.  Suddenly, the monitor lights up, and you see a dark cloaked person with a hood pulled over their face appear on the screen. “Greetings. I am The Mastermind, and I thank all of you for coming here. I will tell you my reason for gathering all of you here, but first let me establish some ground rules for your stay here.” 1. Setting rooms on fire is prohibited. 2. Picking the locks of the Player Rooms and any Locked Rooms is prohibited. 3. Breaking down doors is prohibited. 4. Breaking and/or tampering with cameras is prohibited. 5. Knocking out other players is only permitted with items of 3 or more weight. The items used for a knockout must also be hard enough to knock a person out (i.e. you can’t knock someone out with a large bundle of clothing). 6. Starving to death will be treated as a suicide unless it is forced upon by a Player. 7. Using special abilities of any kind to directly kill a Player is prohibited. 8. Creating duplicate keys is prohibited. 9. A Player may only possess 1 room key at any given time. 10. Taking back something you’ve said in a Trial is prohibited (basically, you can’t edit your posts in a Trial. If you want to fix something, tell me and I’ll fix it for you). 11. A murder must be carried out by one Player alone. 12. Only 2 Players can be killed at one time, if there are 2 dead bodies and no bodies have been found, murdering will be temporarily prohibited. 13. Fighting amongst Players is prohibited. 14. Voting will be conducted in secret (you pm me your vote when debate is closed), and you may only change your vote once. 15. In the last 30 minutes of investigation, all player rooms will be unlocked for searching. 16. Rules can be added or changed at any time. “For all those still wondering, there is no escape from this building. You will live here and die here… unless you murder each other.”
“Why would you murder each other, you ask? Simple really. If 1 person murders 2 other people and is not caught, I will allow everyone who is still alive to go free. Yes, you heard me, everyone who is still alive will be freed.”
“I’ve left all of you with some basic necessities in your rooms. There are also several extra rooms available, although some remain locked.”
“You may explore and do as you like during your stay here, don’t worry about damaging anything. I will be watching to see how this game goes. Good luck.”

 Hey, everyone... so I've been thinking about this, and I have a tape cassette in my pocket. I'm not sure how it got there, but I think we should all listen to it. I'll play it in a few minutes if that's all right. |
