 Well well, it looks like everyone is here. Then, let's begin the exciting pregame! -clears throat and holds up a letter- “I have been held up by urgent business, so I am not yet able to attend the meeting. However, since all of you will be waiting awhile, you can play a game while I finish. On this island there is a hidden treasure, one that requires all of the gold pieces I have placed in this package as a key. Each of the gold pieces is worth several million by themselves, but the treasure itself is valuable beyond measure. Whoever can find the location of the treasure and open the chamber shall obtain it as a reward. In addition, I shall grant persons in possession of the gold pieces money equivalent to the value of the keys when I arrive. Furthermore, whoever collects 3 or more gold shards during this time will have their records cleared and slate wiped clean. I will return in exactly 7 days. Best of luck in this game. - Byakuya Togami” This is the letter Byakuya Togami sent to the guests of his meeting. Sound suspicious? Well of course it does! Your objective in this pregame is to determine the purpose of Togami's letter. For this I've included some special rooms, just to help you along the way. Now then, discuss among yourselves! Even if you say that, I don't even know what is the purpose of this whole meeting... And if he could bring the letter to the meeting place, I would think he could've at least send it straight to my house and postpone the whole thing without making me come here at all... Was this game possibly the reason why he invited me here in the first place..? *sigh* Games and money... What meaning do they have anyway...』

 His thoughts are easy enough to understand for a mere mortal. The letter is there to encourage strife among the others. First he placed a base amount of wealth on the table to entice them, give them a taste of what would be a full course meal. He follows this up by establishing a tiered reward system for participating in his game. Minimal Participation results in only having whatever shards they manage to get for themselves or in a worst case scenario they get nothing. Medium Participation means the person seeks to gather the golden shards, but does not gather all of them. Their reward stacks even further by robbing the other players of their minimal rewards. Max Participation means the person seeks every single golden shard and unlocks the treasure. Their reward is stacked by all the original gold shards and multiplied extensively because they are the "Only" Winner. The last two levels of participation encourage others to not simply sit idly by as they are targets for those who seek to obtain the largest rewards. Lastly he has to prevent their morality from stopping them from committing criminal acts. As such he establishes the 5 shard baseline to have people's slates wiped clean. This means that no matter what crime you commit, as long as you earn five shards it will be forgotten. This further encourages high participation and victory by any means necessary as there simply is no downside besides guilt. The purpose of the letter is solely to drive them to commit murder and larceny against one another. Why he would do that cannot be determined from the letter alone. |

The girl asked the purpose of the letter that proposes us to do the game while he just went and described the details of the said game... I wonder if I should say it to him... But what if he shouts on me in that loud voice... Ugh... What should I do...』

 I can probably agree with Nuadha since that's the most likely purpose of hosting this event but i'd like to make my own speculations.
I think Togami is a "Golden Wizard" with the power to create vast amounts of gold which not only gives wealth but holds great magical power that is enough to destroy the whole world as we know it!
And with such great power. Its no wonder that people are willing to do anything even resort to killing each other to accumulate as much wealth and power as possible.
As to why the Golden Wizard is willing to give away such power is anyone's guess. But one thing is for certain...

If the only real damage we can cause is in some gameboard... and not in this, uh 'Metaworld...'
I'm gonna guess some of us have fallen into some tough times, maybe have even... done things that we might regret? And maybe this is some chance to pay off a debt of some sort?
O-of course, I wouldn't dare accuse you all of doing those kinds of things! Eheheh... heh...
J-just tossing that out there... is all...
W-well alternatively, we just might be on a treasure hunt for Togami, like you guys already said. I wonder if he can't actually get to it himself? W-wouldn't that be a great deal! Working under the prestigious Togami name! H-heh...
O-of course, since there are some rooms to help us, I wonder how they tie in...? Maybe the game's to mete out justice, or perhaps bring redemption to someone? That might relate to the first thing I mentioned...
