The muck seems almost sentient as it grabs at one's legs and tries to pull them beneath the waves. Some people swear that they see faces in the water and that their reflection isn't quite their own. A warped song bubbles from the depths, popping up with the sputtering vents of gas trapped within decaying logs. Sickly mangrove trees desperately reach for an indifferent grey sky. Small islands of peep out of the water, a carpet of black fungus clinging to them.
Poisonous fumes cause those in the area to get sick (10 power poison). Getting water in one's mouth will mess with their head (15 power). Trudging through or swimming in the water will slow one down (5 power slow).
