Chapter 2: The Trial

[Ryo Asuka]

Ryo shook his head.

"Except, the windows on the third floor are sealed. What other method are you suggesting to get from the third to the fourth without the windows? Are you suggesting the culprit cut a new hole in the floor from third to fourth?"

[The City [EclipseZwolf]]

-Cessair waves at Itriot who steps forward to respond-


Itriot: "Allow me to clarify! There is a secret passageway from the Chef and Bartender's Rooms on the 4th floor that descends to the kitchen on the third floor! The exit is hidden there. As a response to Ryo, the windows were all sealed prior to the conclusion of the first case. It wouldn't work to have you guys leaping out windows. After the 1st Trial concluded, the windows on the 4th floor were unsealed and can now be manually opened, locked, and unlocked by any participant."

Itriot: "Oh, and I was on the 1st floor the entire day. I would never abandon my post!"

[King V]

"This witness finds something about this case confusing. Mishy says he saw some "Itriot-like person" or someone who resembled Itriot at the commons, during the meeting time. Nobody else on the 1st floor has testified that they saw anything like this."

"This witnesses asks of all of you, delusional quartet, Dayz, did any of you see someone at the commons who appeared to look like Itriot, as Mishy described?"

[Karenina]

"Right. I should probably explain my point of view too. So I received the note in the morning telling to gather at the Commons 11 AM. So I kept that in mind. Everything seemed normal during 9 AM, so Rikka, Nibutani-san, Shichimiya and I all went into Scoring Stars to play games. Mishy, Days and Owen all went out of the complex at the same time as us.

At the arcade, we played games until 10 AM. That´s when we saw the mysterious figure, who ran off. We gave them a chase after realizing Satone was gone. The chase itself happened exactly how Rikka described it, which means that we did split up and met up after the figure escaped. Although I was searching the southwest section of the city. Not southeast. I then finally found Satone limping to the Clash Complex at 10:45 AM, as I was passing the area myself. I was with her until Rikka and Nibutani-san joined us at 11 AM.

Around 11, there were no announcement. Mishy and Days arrived at that place as well. I saw no one else at that point. No weird person who supposedly looked like Itriot or anything...
That is when we all started searching together. And from there, it´s all exactly as Rikka has told."

[King V]

"Thank you, delusional quartet no.4"

"Now, if we assume that the portal is unrelated and Caster has nothing to do with this murder, then the culprit must be stuck on the 1st floor due to the elevator malfunctioning. Only Mishy, Owen, Dayz, and the delusional quartet claimed to be on the 1st floor, which means one of them must be the culprit."

"If we examine the testimonies of everyone on the 1st floor, there are a few things that don't add up. Namely that Mishy claims to have seen Dayz at some point before the announcement at 11am, and that Mishy claims he saw someone resembling Itriot at the commons at 11am when everyone met up for the announcement. Dayz claims that he never saw Mishy until 11am, and nobody else has claimed to see someone resembling Itriot at the commons."

"Due to the abundance of testimonies claiming otherwise, we can assume that Mishy is lying, and must be the culprit or an accomplice."

[The City [EclipseZwolf]]

Cessair: "As it seems some people are hallucinating or have wiped Itriot from their ability to perceive. Itriot was in the Clash Commons and was there all day until the Trial began, at that point he came here."

[King V]

"Once again, let us assume that Caster is not the culprit, and the portal is not involved in any way."

"This witness invokes probable cause for the delusional quartet's alibi. From what this witness has heard, the mysterious figure the delusional quartet encountered also appeared in the previous trial, and when they escaped, they went somewhere we players cannot access. Taking this into account, it means that the mysterious figure is an entirely alien external force, and that controlling his appearance would be impossible."

"If the culprit were one of the delusional quartet, they would not be able to control the appearance of the mysterious figure and conveniently split up. Had the mysterious figure not appeared, the delusional quartet would have never separated throughout the day. Therefore, we can assume the culprit is not one of their group."

"So we are left with only Mishy and Dayz. Once again, there is an inconsistency with both their testimonies. Dayz claims to have not seen Mishy outside while claiming to have seen three of the delusional quartet running outside. Mishy claims to have seen Dayz inside the lord's blessing after watching three of the delusional quartet run around outside. In this case, one of these two must be lying."

"However... this witness would honestly rather just kill off Caster than debate any further with alibis and testimonies, which are apparently full of holes. Let's just kill off Caster and be done with this."

[Xaniks]

”As an innocent, I have done all I can for this trial. If you seek death for us all, then be my guest - vote me. However, it is my duty to implore that you continue to consider the other possibilities, for I want to live, and I’m sure you all do too.”

[Falin Touden [Ven]]

So hey guys! Unfortunately during my investigation I didn't really know about all of those secret passages so I don't think I'll be much help in that case but I suppose I will first state my alibi - I don't suppose I need to because of my lovely companions but some simple notes - like everyone else, I woke up at 8am and found the same note, obviously we realised the cloaked person was behind us when we heard a thumping sound, which I assume is related to Satone going missing - obviously her almost dying the first time, we all decided to go after the person to try and find our missing friend. The first time we split up I went EAST in case the person decided to cut downwards towards me - I caught up with Rikka who told me he went missing and I continue searching northwest. I found nothing and returned, by 11 I went back and saw Yuuta and Satone - Rikka came last, but moments later. Day and ~Mishy joined us and after 10 minutes we investigated when we found out the elevator was not responding. All 6 of us decided to search outside, Mishy and Day went toward's the lord blessings and the rest of us went to iron and scoring stars. As soon as I looked through the door I saw Owen - the announcement went off when my friends joined me moments later.

Honestly I didn't really investigate much, I investigated Iron Stars obviously, and liked others I noticed that Owen looked like he was trying to get the bar off with his hands gripping the bar but he was noticeably strong - so it obviously looks like someone was forcing the bar on him so, this is defo murder! I know you guys already covered this but I haven't done much! The rest of Iron Stars didn't have any other evidence and was clean and the changing rooms didn't really have any evidence/ was clean as well - the two broken lockers looked like people know this and the note seemed not needed for the case. Also when I was investigating Rin and Caster was already in the changing rooms - I assume they came down shortly after during investigation as I was using the elevator after investigating the changing room - but due to the conversations you guys were having, I thought I would note it. The last thing of note was Owen's room was unlocked before I got there. Someone may have broke it during investigation - but as it shouldn't of been open I thought I'd also note it - that's all I got. Sorry.

[Ryo Asuka]

"Eh. Pierrick. How DID you get from the 6th to the 5th floor?"

[The City [EclipseZwolf]]

Pierrick: "Haha! Did you forget? I said I would use your room as I felt it was needed! I went through your room! I just let myself in ya know! Why does it matter though? You weren't watching the doors so you missed me cartwheeling in there!" 

[Ryo Asuka]

Ryo glared.

"If I ever get the chance, I swear I'm going to-nevermind. How long were you on the fifth floor for?"

[King V]

"This witness wishes to request all those who were on the 6th floor to reveal where they went after finding the elevator malfunctioning. This may have something related to what delusional quartet no.1 mentioned earlier."

[Monika]

"After finding the elevator was malfunctioning, I went back to my room. That's about it, ahaha."

[Exusiai]

"I can't really say my day was exciting.
With you blocking the elevator, I couldn't really do much today!
After breakfast, I went to my room to prepare for a scavenger hunt.
Ryo ended up following me upstairs, but I asked him to stay outside.
It's nice to be with someone, but having someone latching onto you without any second thought is a bit too much.

When I first entered my room, I noticed that Itriot had already fixed the missing floor in my closet.
I was originally planning to nail some plywood in, but I learned that Itriot was willing to do it, so I asked his services before the day of the body announcement.

After a quick draft of my scavenger hunt, I decided to head out to the Starless Streets, but the elevator doors didn't open!
Ryo and I kept hitting the elevator for some time before eventually giving up.
I had a whole day planned out, but I couldn't even do a single thing, so I ended up sitting in my room for most of the time.
From time to time, I managed to drag myself out to the elevator to check if it would open, but none of these attempts worked.
I pretty much stayed on the sixth floor from after breakfast to the body announcement at 11:20 AM.
During this time, I also saw Pierrick, Caster, Lloyd, and Monika.

When I heard Cessair's voice, I immediately left my room.
The other five people who I saw on the sixth floor earlier also ran to the elevator. When I pushed the button that time, the elevator doors finally decided to open.  I bet that was a relief for most of us.
I was worried there would be a consequence if we couldn't get to the crime scene.
Yep, it was an uneventful morning for me!"
