Day 0 - Radio Waves
Lock away from the world, hidden in the remote reaches of our mundane little town is a marvelous world. The envy of the jealous eyes who gaze upon it. A small little room full of hazardous wonderment. A mystical lab where anything in the world could become a reality. In here bolts of electricity zip around to and fro all to the tone of bubbling test tubes. Yes indeed, this is a place where dreams are born, but it’s far from what I want. As a living human being my time is finite. There is so much to do but with only a life span of eighty years and ten of them wasted on idle youth everything I hope to accomplish is but a drip in the pail of achievements. Immortally is in the human mind no more the a delusion of the emperors of hold trying to hold on to their inhuman power and wealth. My plans vastly exceed what those brainless swine could even comprehend. I’m sure you all see me as just a human myself as a human with wild fantasies, but I assure you there’s more than meets the eye. All it takes is one fortune, a simple turn of the wheel of fate. It was hiding in plain sight all these years, a simple lot hiding the gift to expand humanity beyond its limitations. Ah I seem to have gotten far too excited! I have spent all day cooped up in my room writing well over a hundred thesis. If I get distracted too much I might miss my chance, I’d better head out.
Setting out into the world binding us to our stature I see on the horizon the fading light of a soon to be setting sun. It will be some time before I arrive to the small market that connects us all by fate, I’m sure those other two have gotten their chance. This is the point where I should introduce some flashback as to who I am and how I became so obsessed with entering this fortune battle. True be told I only found out about this all just yesterday, for whatever reason she appeared at my doorstep, she was so trendy in appearance.
“Would you like to evolve further?” Those were her words to me. “I know you are a man who seeks your own growth. To live longer in the name of science.” For a stranger she could read the heart in a way I feared no other living person would. She told me that every so often a miraculous battle of fortunes begins. Pushing humans far past their abilities all in the name of choosing the fitting enough to gain their fate. This fate defies all logic that only the lowly deprived are fit to fight for it. If you can’t reach it then you have no right to live!
Ah, I got over excited again, forgive me. I do so very much enjoy this topic, racking my brain around this entire concept. This small little cram school, chalked fool of students. One of these future prodigies could be my rivals for the road ahead. I see a slacker in the window, short black hair and emerald eyes. I can tell her life is going nowhere and she’s restrained to a life solitude to better herself for the future slowly slipping from beneath her feet. One day such cruelty might just disappear from the world, but for now there’s no escape for lies ahead of her.
That small market, a den of humans struggling to live day to day. Forced into the moldings of the stronger pack. It is almost laughable really. I must focus at the task at hand though. My goal is set ahead, a small worn lottery booth. The elderly overseer sitting, just awaiting my arrival. I walk over placing valued paper on the table. “I am prepared for the fate you have in store for me.”
She smiled at me, “The fate is in your hands now. You have no one to blame but yourself.”
I griped the handle and slowly turned. Click, click, click. Now is the moment. Plop. A lot fell out. The last lot to fall out of this machine. She retrieved my prize a large pot and my fortune. She was just about to read it. I held up my hand, “Stop right there. I don’t need such printed fortunes. I only know my own fortune.” She nodded and I left.
“I see you got what you wanted.” It was her, I can see her flowing white hair now.
“That’s right. I will follow the path I was born on, the perfect collection of genetics.” She smirked at my words.
“Never underestimate the unexpected. Perfection is but a fracture on living.”
I’m getting excited once more, “We will then see on the battle field. Until tomorrow Reiko.” We parted ways. It’s already dark out now.
Lock away from the world, hidden in the remote reaches of our mundane little town is a marvelous world. In this marvelous world sits its god, the one who will soon enter the battle of fates. Who will step out as the true god? I can see it’s almost midnight. The shadowy hands of the future are raising from my very prized pot, looming ever closer to my flesh offering. Splendid! Just splendid! Watch me Reiko! Watch as I lead the world to the truest future!
Just three more minutes until midnight, Reiko…!
