Look, I finally got a title! I've previously outlined what I want to do with this season, so hopefully you guys don't mind a bit of a recap. My old thread is over here.
"The setting is at a winter resort, essentially. You and your classmates decided to save up for a trip to a local winter resort during the winter, as it looked totally awesome. You will be able to wander around the resort as well as leave it for periods of time to explore the great outdoors. Be sure to dress warmly, because you're headed out into the great... freezing outdoors. Who knows what you and your fellow classmates may find after all? I was hoping to make this have a bit of a survival horror sort of feeling to it, though we will be having a bit of a lighthearted pre-game to ease you guys into things as well as for me to help you guys with creating abilities that will be enjoyable to use.
Plot is something that I really don't want to give away, as just hinting something miiight be wrong would just ruin the happy illusion we have in place here! We don't want that, right? Right? Right." - Ravan, Old thread 2k14
This season basically will take place in a resort up in the mountains. Your class decides to visit said resort and lease some of the rooms. Shenanigans ensue, and we'll have our game play out. Movement and actions work in the same way for the most part.
I was considering these to be rules or things to keep in mind for my season. If they go too far for what a host of my caliber is capable of, I will remove or edit them.
Some of you people (or perhaps all of you people) will be sleeping in the same rooms, I'll handle the specific room arrangements so there's nothing too horrifying at first. Girls get their own rooms, guys get their own rooms. They can be singles, doubles or triples. If you guys feel like switching rooms around later, this is possible, as you each have keys. These keys can be used in other rooms in the resort as well.
Communication, or restriction of it is something that is honestly rather difficult to enforce. I will be on the lookout for players who suddenly have a change in their motives or decide to move to certain locations after events have occurred. As we are in a relatively modern era, cellphones are definitely a thing, and you guys have reception over at the resort. Be aware, that may not last forever. (Hint, it's going down at some point.)
Specific gimmick rules here would be when it comes to weather. I intend to test out weather effects and to see if they're viable in future games or not here. The weather can and will change, and the effects the weather has on each area will vary as well. For instance, I've brought up examples when it comes to the snow. You could kill someone off and leave footprints behind for a short period of time, or you could cover your tracks by moving a lot more slowly. The corpse will be out in the open for a short period of time, but it will eventually be buried by snow. This will make it more difficult for players to discover corpses and I believe it may encourage people to commit murder as cleaning up after committing the crime is often the most difficult part from what I've seen. This is what I would like to keep in most.
Of course, I can't leave a corpse undiscovered forever, so I will be revealing it in some way or form after a certain amount of time has passed if nobody chooses to reveal it, or if nobody finds it.
Hunger will be included in this season, though food will be rather plentiful within the resort. There will be certain circumstances that may force you to leave that stockpile of food though later on, but you won't be in any particular danger of starving to death if you don't do stupid things. (If you feel like throwing cooking recipes at me, by all means, fire away.)
Trials will be held by my avatar in the game, but they aren't necessarily mandatory to participate in. I will be going with the format that seems to work best, namely the one where those who participate and contribute to the trial will be allowed to vote for the culprit, and that person will be considered marked. If anybody so chooses, they may assault and apprehend the marked person if they're capable of it, and they may execute marked individuals if the players vote to do so. Marked players will have certain privileges within the resort revoked, so you'll have to play around that. There are ways to work around being marked, however.
If it is later discovered that the person voted for and marked was accused falsely in a later trial, they may be unmarked. There is also another way to prevent people from being marked, but you guys'll have to find that one out on your own. It's pretty simple, though.
If possible, I would like to use Eclipse Time™ as it seems like a pretty great idea when it comes to handling specific players when they're in certain situations that may call for more attention. It'll work just as detailed over here. Please let me know if there are any problems with me using it, Eclipse.
For character applications, I'll open up another thread with specific guidelines on what would be needed. I'll require names, a picture or very good description of your character, gender and personality/backstory/something that gives me an idea of how your character would act. Each player will receive a passive and active ability most likely, though we can discuss abilities moreso when applications come in. Your character does not necessarily have to be from the class, as this is a resort and high schoolers definitely can't afford to lease the whole thing, but you probably will have less opportunities to interact with the classmates unless you establish relationships with them. If everybody doesn't like the idea of sharing rooms and being a part of a class, I'll throw that bit out the window and you can just apply as usual.
Was hoping that player interactions would be more of a thing in this, so if you guys feel up to roleplaying your characters, go for it.
If I've forgotten anything, I'll notify everybody. Hopefully this wasn't awfully written, I feel like it may be a lot to take in at once.
