Player Room 3 notebook 

The notebook reads, “Today I begin my diary of this mysterious house and all that transpires within it. We’ve all agreed to record our experiences in hopes of coping with our situation and finding out something worthwhile. I believe there will be a great benefit from doing this.” 

Paper scrap note 

“What if everything is somehow connected somehow? That’s what Gram has been saying. Lexi also insists that there is some greater evil lurking behind the scenes, but I don’t believe it. We ended up here due to our own misfortunes, this would always have happened, we were just the ones unlucky enough to be dragged in. Dear god I hope nothing happens to-” 

Washroom note  

“Everyone seems to be on edge lately. I can relate, since three people just died today, but it seems a little… too orderly. It’s like the murders are being organized. Is there a ringleader? My _______ should tell me, but someone might die before then. Then there are the rumors that the mastermind is among us… How can I save everyone? Should I ask for __________’s help after all?” 

Secrets of Fate book 

“All who would trespass on Fate’s door shall receive five riddles from Fate’s core.” 

One Detective attempted to change his Fate. 

But one Devil saw this as a pitiful trait. 

The Devil slyly wove his chain of deceit. 

And with his words, the Detective fell in defeat.” 

“Two times did Fate visit the tower of blood. 

Twice did He consider this tower odd. 

He examined everything carefully. 

Yet missed, hidden, the secrets of eternity.” 

“A kingdom was built from islands Three. 

A questionable ruler who artfully, 

Pitted his subjects against each other, he did. 

And yet his reign was quite short-lived.” 

“Looking for a lost friend, a group arrived. 

But at the end of the search only Four survived. 

Many lives lost to a vengeful curse. 

And more to fire, a destructive force.”

Against the flow, for blood will be shed.

Room 13 notebook 

“Death, death, death for all! The game of Despair has begun and it’s time to kill everyone! Of course, I won’t make the first move. I’ll have to get some of my pawns to do that, just to shake things up before things really get rolling.” 

“The first murder went off without a hitch, poor R_______ wasn’t even expecting it! Hmm… speaking of the first murder, one of these people actually got pretty close to solving it. They might be a threat, better to take them out now.” 

“The second murder had some casualties on our side. But, it was only the loss of a pawn, and the traitor committed suicide, so everything is still fine. I suppose now is the time to kill off all of the members of this ‘alliance’ I’ve formed. Can’t have anyone trying to kill me while I’m out killing them.” 

“__________.......... urgh… I can’t believe my plans were foiled by that _____________. The card saved me, but now everyone is still alive! Oh well, they don’t suspect me, so I suppose everything is still fine. Now then… there’s another pesky detective who needs to bite the dust. I’ll have to do the deed personally this time…”

“Well, we’re stuck in a strange place and everything is mostly bolted down or locked. I think it would be a good idea to investigate the area to look for a means of escape, but how are we supposed to investigate-” the bottom half of this sheet has been ripped off. 

“Vicky and I have been looking for a way out. We’re sticking together, someone has to in this mess. Yokai approached us both recently… she’s talking about murder, and Vicky seems to be going along with it… I don’t like where this is headed, but I can’t seem to change his mind. I hope nothing terrible happens.” 

“A murder! The first one, and I was late! It went unsolved, but someone came close. Someone named Seadrias, I think. Vicky confessed to committing the murder, thank god they didn’t find out. But he’s starting to think Seadrias might be a problem… and he wants me to kill him…” 

“I did it! My first murder. I was so nervous the entire time. I didn’t follow the plan exactly, but it should still be fine. With Seadrias out of the way, nobody should be able to solve the trials now… right? I sure hope so, otherwise I might be dead this time…” 

“Whew, I got away with it. I can’t say it’s been the most stress-inducing thing in my life, but wow that waiting was intense. Only a player named ESP tried to accuse me, but I shot them down easily. And now, there’s a card in my room. It says, “The Devil”. Vicky tells me these cards have magical powers. I can’t wait to try mine out.” 

“No killing today, that’s good, more time to focus on solving the mystery. That reminds me, time seems to stop whenever people stop murdering, but not today it seems. Maybe it’s because there’s no murder allowed? I’ll have to check that weird clock again.” 

“A player named Mystio approached me today. He handed me a book and when I read it, I was amazed. Where did he find that book? Oh right, I also died. But I’m still alive somehow. I’m curious as to why, it might be an effect of the card I have, but I’m more curious about this book. It seems like it has all of the answers! What was it called again? The Book of Fate?” 

“That lying cheapstake, Mystio. He was the one who killed me! Where is he now?! I have to kill him! Everything is going to hell in here. People who already died are coming back to life, time keeps stopping randomly, and more and more of these weird cards are appearing everywhere! Just what the hell is going on?!”

The notebook reads, 

The top half of this page has been torn off. “-our names written on it like some sort of death diary. Honestly, this book completely creeps me out.”

“Uh… why is there a gun in my room? I mean, it’s good to keep for self-defense, but still… other people might get suspicious. Although they’re pretty suspicious already. Anyway, I tried to use the key, but all I found was some weird gallery with a bunch of smashed cases. Someone probably got in there first, although I’m not sure how… I mean, I found the key first, right?” 

“So right now I’m hiding under my bed, writing this. I heard from Kleara that there was this weird guy going into rooms handing out cards, so I thought maybe he was the one who put the gun in my room. This is basically a stakeout, anything to discover something about where we are and what we’re supposed to- wait, someone’s coming. They’ve opened the door, it looks like they have a card- wait, no, they’re carrying a bunch of cards… I can almost see his face… wait, it can’t be! Is that-”

“This is my diary. If you’re reading this and you’re not me, prepare for pain.” 

“Yeah, I see you there, reading my diary like it’s just some random book. I see you, and I’m watching you. I. Am. Always. Watching.” 

“And don’t even think about reading this when I’m not around. I told you I’m always watching, right? Even if I’m DEAD, I’m watching you FROM THE GRAVE. Hear that? That’s me, walking up behind you. Now if you know what’s good for you, STOP RIGHT HERE.”

Well that's all the notes I've gathered (Well almost all of it). I hope I've enlightened you guys and would help us solve this mystery.

Very well, allow me to compile what I discovered as well.

I read the book you mentioned on the first page with the history of El Academy and the Despair message. I would also like to comment that I checked the non marked books and the part that says despair is replaced by  "Hope."

Theory of Despair 2
“After the results of the first game in the mansion, I have come to a conclusion. Despair comes from one’s relationships. Why did _______ perform the actions he did in the first game? Why did he go through with such selfless actions with such risk to himself? There is only one conclusion. He was under the influence of Despair.”

 “I must conduct another test. Another test to confirm my suspicions. I will need another location for this test, seeing as my spy burned down the mansion I used for my first test… perhaps I will use that haunted Cathedral that was abandoned 12 years ago. Yes, that is the perfect location. Hmm… I will require more test subjects for this. Most ________ of _____________ was killed in that fire after all. Ah well, petty little humans are easy to find.”

 “What is this?! What did she do! This is horrible! No, wait, calm down… this isn’t the end. No, I can make this better! I will make this succeed! The second test must proceed no matter what!”

Player Room 12 Notebook
“OMG, I’ve been in this place for 1 day and everything stops, like EVERYTHING. It won’t go past midnight, WHAT’S GOING ON. Oh, and we have to kill people to get out. Yeah, that might be bad.”

“So, apparently time only restarts again after someone dies. Then it freezes again at midnight until someone else dies… why does it work like that though? If everyone died, it’d mean time stops on the 30th day and never starts again.”

 “So uh… this weird guy came into my room last night and handed me this card. He was all like, ‘take it for the sake of everyone’, or something. Well, whatever, the card is pretty fun to use. When I hold it I can spy on people, like people who are on the fourth floor from my room. People sure do weird things when they’re alone…”

 “Well, the guy came back, and he was all like, ‘not enough, it’s not enough’. Maybe he’s having a midlife crisis or something. Huh… that’s strange… I could’ve sworn I’ve seen him be-”

Player Room 11 Notebook
“I’m stuck. How does this always happen? There’s this card lying on my bed, but I can’t touch it at all. My hand just passes right through it. Why? It might be a clue to getting out of here, but if only I could touch and hold it…”
“I’ve taken a knife from the kitchen and tried cutting a chunk out of the bed, but the card just fell through the bed when I tried lifting it. This card is really getting annoying.”

“Well, I cut a hole through the bed, but it doesn’t seem to have made a difference. I wonder if anyone else is having issues with this. Maybe I should ask around, see if anyone else has some card they can’t touch.”

“-without clues? I can’t imagine anyone killing anyone else, but it’s best to be cautious. AiWish and Yokai seemed to agree. We all took knives with us, just in case. And after that I still have my secret weapon. But nobody is going to murder, so everything will be fine. Definitely.”

“I’ve come to terms with this place, and how very trapped we are. However, I do have a lead on how to get out. _______________________________________, surely it’s a hint to a way out. I’m not too keen on killing, however… I’ll continue to look for a way out, and if there’s a victim, well, there’s no point in letting their death go to waste.”

“I’ve started an investigation of this house, but nothing much has come up so far. Everyone seems to be in the same mindset, find a way out of here, don’t care about the killing rule. I’m glad, it would be terrible if I let HIM loose.”

 “Someone has murdered. Given that R_______ was an easy target, but still it’s unsettling. Even more is the fact that nobody knows who did it. Hmm… S________ seems to know something. I’ll talk to him later, find out what happened.”

“________ is dead too… this is…. Troubling…. Urk. I can’t hold him back much longer… this isn’t good… I have to… KILL THE MASTERMIND.”

“Day 1 – Shing Meteoryte died on this day. He suffered a fatal wound to the head. Death was apparently instantaneous. The culprit was found and executed.”

“Day 2 – Sen Yarizui died on this day. She was stabbed multiple times before having her throat slit. Blood trails were everywhere. The culprit remained undiscovered.”

“Day 3 – The Mastermind declared no murdering for this day and all was silent.”

“Day 4 – Inami Mahiru died on this day. She was strangled. Her body appeared to have been manipulated before she died with several additional wounds. The culprit was found after extensive debate.”

“Day 5 – Akio died on this day. He was hung with a rope and stabbed from behind. Blood was dripping around him in a puddle when he was found. The culprit remained undiscovered.”

“Day 6 – Byakuya Togami and Rin Kaenbyou both died on this day. The cause of deaths were both unknown. A similar culprit was suspected for each. A conclusion was never reached in trial.”

“After some largely unsuccessful searches I have concluded that this house involves a kind of magic. Yes, magic. I have seen some people receive cards, cards that give them uncanny abilities. How to obtain these cards, I am still uncertain.”

“These murders have been proving quite troublesome. I am unable to ascertain the murderer, but I feel that a large group is responsible. I’ve also heard some rumors about how the mastermind is among us from TianoSuru. How she came across this information is strange, but it will be worth a look into.”

Surprised? No, you probably knew from the beginning. With Lumai gone and Seadrias dead, it could have only been me.

You know, when I was executed in Lumai's second test of despair, I thought it would be the end. I thought we had lost, that everyone would die and despair would triumph.

But no, I was given another chance. A chance to change Fate, and save everyone once and for all.


Well, seeing as you've come this far, I think it would be unfair to just end things here. Humor me for awhile longer if you will.

What do you think I've had to do in order to come here? What was my goal this entire time?

None can match the esteemed Byakuya Togami!

Its good to finally see your face Mystio, I wasn't sure how much longer I could endure that dull black countenance.
Let me take a good guess what would reduce a man of my class to the mastermind of a game of murder. You were pulled into the games repeatedly in order to defeat Lumai, playing the games over and over again looking for the one fate you needed to achieve victory. However long that took... you learned something during that monstrous battle repeating over and over again. That or after you defeated Lumai you lost your one motivation to keep pushing through... and have fallen to despair like him.

For lack of better terms you have been to hell and back an incredible number of times, the question now is, why are we with you on this journey?

Why are you playing through this game repeatedly with the others of Class 21... A class with around 500 people. In these games with fewer than 20 people you couldn't have possibly saved everyone just beating him out in one game. Whatever our fate is that Lumai made for us.... you are trying to change it.

So, you think I've fallen into despair in my battle against Lumai, do you?

Well, you would be wrong, Togami. Every day I have spent in this accursed mansion I have only thought of hope. The hope I would see on everyone's faces after they have been freed.


I have defeated Lumai already, his restraints in the Music Room should attest to that. I sealed his power to call forth and amplify every arcana, and left him there. Of course, I would have killed him, but... well, that would be telling too much.

I had a plan, and I knew the plan would work. I had to change Fate somehow. But, as all of you know... Fate is cruel...

I can understand that...As the current holder of the Hanged Man to be doomed to be at the mercy of fate is no simple burden to bear.

All emotions that rise from the threat of a Fate more horrid than anything we can imagine. None of it matters now though, we shall forge our own path to a Fate of my own choosing. Let us end this cycle of suffering! The only reason you can cling to hope is because a solution is possible, I march down the path of my own choosing.

Mystio... This whole time, I have had nothing but hope!

I've had hope since the first murder, hope that I could change fate! I refuse my fate, dammit! I refuse it until the end of time!

Fate isn't cruel! Fate is something we can control! It's not something that is decided for us! When I tried to save Sen... When I tried to save her, I was ready to kill to do it, just to change my fate! Just to refuse fate itself! But, a moment of hesitation caused a lifetime of grief.

But that doesn't mean that fate can't change! We can, in fact, go back, and save those who were lost! Didn't one of the arcanas do that? We don't have to just sit by and let people die like last time, if we do go back!

I say that we take our chances once and for all, and end this hellish cycle! I say that, for hope, we go back once more... And just once more, and save each and every one of them! End the killing, end the cycle! We can do this, no matter what anyone says! We're only limited by what's humanly possible, but with the arcanas in hand... Hell, there are no more limits to what we can do and change!

So you were the mastermind all along! Your the one who trapped us all here and forced us all into this sick and twisted game of murder!

You say that your actually here to save us all from "Fate"? Although I still don't get why you put us through this horrible game but I actually have some info that could perhaps shed some light on your intentions.

 But before that. Allow me to show you all 3 cards I have in my collection...

*Satori pulls out The Star alongside The Moon and The Sun*

I AM THE HOLDER OF THE STAR AND THE LEADER WHO SHINES BRIGHTEST IN THE DARKNESS!

How did I come to possess The Star you may ask? Well I needed to obtain both The Moon and The Sun which by the way wasn't a very easy task and had to resort to some "extreme" measures to obtain them both and get the Star.

Anyway. The Star allows me to reveal all that is hidden and shortly after obtaining it, I went around and stumbled upon Room 20 and there I encountered Seadrias (Who btw didn't let me have his Judgment card! >_<) using the Star's power. He calls himself the Immortal Holder of Judgement and claims to have never failed a trial. He also says he's a persona created by his arcana and holds an immortal seat in trial. I tried to ask him some things about everything that's going on and pointed me to his notebook which I was able to decode with the Star and it turned out to be his personal detective journal which has some very interesting info...

Seadrias’s Detective Journal

“I know who this Mastermind character is. I also know he is on to me. He has been since this entire fiasco started. Somehow he’s honed in on me specifically to keep a close eye on, but I’m not sure why. Is he afraid that I might uncover his plans? Well, I have discovered several things, so he may be right to keep an eye on me.”

“Firstly, the Mastermind now and the Mastermind before are different. There is no doubt about it. Before we were being controlled by that idiotic black-and-white bear, but now it’s simply announcements with a voice scrambler.”

“Secondly, arcanas are heavily involved with this. I cannot think of a way for the Mastermind to orchestrate such a plot without the use of arcanas, most likely several at that. This will be elaborated on in my fourth point.”

“Thirdly, our numbers are decreasing slowly. There have been no murder reports, people have simply gone missing. The Mastermind seems to be ignoring this. It must be part of his plan. Our numbers have been dwindling since day 1 due to murder, but now people are just straight-up vanishing. Any way you look at it, this can’t be good.”

“My fourth and final point… we’ve been stuck in a loop. A time loop. I’ve only managed to notice due to my Judgment persona being present at every trial. There have been well over ONE HUNDRED TRIALS so far, some trials even being a repeat of events that had occurred before. I’m not sure what kind of arcana could do this… it’s likely a combination of several. Nobody else seems to realize this, they simply relive the same six days over and over again… perhaps this has to do with the people who are disappearing.”

“The time loop should be reviving everyone every time it happens, that’s how there can be multiple trials with the same people involved. Is something negating the effects of the arcanas responsible somehow? I must investigate this, it’s our only chance of making it out of here alive… although if the effect of my arcana is negated, I might lose all my memories… worse, I might end up dead, permanently. Regardless, I can’t sit around like this and keep solving trials forever. I have to act now, while there is still time…”

As the book reveals, we are indeed stuck in a time loop and this whole game has been repeating itself over a hundred times already and as we all know now, Mystio is the mastermind! Its also implied that several arcanas were used to make this all possible and I already have an idea what they may be which ill elaborate further in awhile.

After saying goodbye to Seadrias. I went to check out Room 19 and tried to read this notebook but all its pages had been ripped up. I did however find a sheet of paper on the floor that had this description...

“XXI – The World

The World is an all-encompassing arcana, capable of using the powers of every other arcana. It is rumored that The World can even manipulate Fate itself. However, nobody in recorded history has ever seen even a trace of this elusive arcana, as The World will only award itself to the greatest of heroes.”

This is obviously pertaining to arguably the most powerful arcana in existence but as the description say, no one in recorded history has ever seen a trace of it. I was certain however that this card had been responsible for everything happening to us and I assumed that you Mystio, the mastermind would have possessed such an arcana so I decided to investigate further.

I then went to the One Way Door on the 4th floor and opened up the secret passage to the 5th floor using the Star. There I found the Torture Room which I presumed was where you monitored us and controlled the game from there. I found a computer which is apparently running the game by making automatic announcements at certain time and there were also various sound and video files. I also found a pile of diaries which apparently belongs to us and numerous other students of Class 21. Interestingly, there were 3 arcanas on the chair namely The Tower, Wheel of Fortune and The Emperor which I tried to obtain but some mysterious force stopped me from getting them. (Sea said these cards were too powerful to be in play.) I assume these cards were owned by Mystio and were the cards implied in Seadrias's journal to have been the ones responsible for making this game possible and I suspect the Wheel of Fortune had been used by Mystio to cause the time loops and could even be responsible for the random time shifts that seem to occur every time a murder is committed.

Strangely though. I never found any trace of The World there which I expected you would have had it but apparently you don't unless your actually holding yourself though if you did possess The World then you wouldn't have even needed those 3 cards anyway. If you really didn't own The World then it could mean that someone else might have possessed the World and that someone is the "Fate" that you say your trying to save us from am I right? If that were the case then it could only mean that one of the other students during the previous game might have taken possession of the World and may perhaps be our true enemy if you are indeed trying to save us from Fate!

I think I'm starting to realize why you keep repeating these games and forcing us to kill each other and I think this was suggested by Fatogami. You wanted to find someone who can use The Star which is only awarded to "the leader who shines brightest in the darkest of times",solve everything and ultimately save everyone and that someone happens to be me! Yes! I think it all makes sense to me now! If I am "The one who shines brightest in the darkest of times" then I may as well be "The HOPE that shines brightest in the face of DESPAIR!" and that's exactly the kind of person your looking for am I right?

And yes I agree with Apollo! We cannot let fate control our lives and we all have the power to decide our own future and the path we should all take is the path of HOPE!

You still don't understand... I have absolutely no interest in the arcanas. In fact, it might have turned out better if they were gone.

Apollo, the fact of the matter is, I have gone back. I regretted everything that happened in Lumai's first and second tests of despair, and I tried to fix it. I used my Wheel of Fortune which could change past events to try and alter the outcome of the first test.

I won in that first game, and everyone died as a result. So I thought if I could give my victory to someone else, everything would change. I defeated Lumai and held this test in his place for this very purpose.


But it wasn't that simple! Even after I took over the test, nobody else could win! I tried everything! I offered to free everyone if one of you could just commit 2 murders and get away with it, and I invited the other 500 members of Class 21 that Lumai hadn't kidnapped here so there would be more people to murder, but it just didn't work!

You see those bodies in the Digital Archives? Those are them. I could selectively choose who lived and who died by resetting the game with Wheel of Fortune while placing some of the dead in an arcana negating room. It still didn't work!

I have reset this game over a hundred times with Wheel of Fortune, but nobody could win! Why is it so hard for everyone to just commit 2 murders and get away with it! Just by sacrificing three or four people, everyone can be saved! Why don't all of you understand that?!

I even wrote a book detailing exactly what murders you could commit in order to win the game and left it in the room all of you would start in!


...I've tried everything, but Fate just couldn't be changed.

Satori, you thought I had The World, but no, that's incorrect. I can't control Fate... I can't even change it.

I've had to make do with using Wheel of Fortune to keep resetting the game, The Emperor to erase all of your memories every time the game starts, and The Tower to keep track of everything that happens.

It's just not enough. I'm not looking for any particular arcana holder at all. All I want is for someone to win the game instead of me!


But I guess in the end all of you just couldn't figure it out. Has my struggle to change Fate been useless until now?

No, I have to change Fate. For the sake of everyone, I will push forward through this hell game. I will overcome Despair!

What the hell does it matter if anyone wins or loses? What SHOULD matter is that we all get out of this alive!

Tell me, Mystio, why does it matter that someone else wins? You're certainly holding something back! There has to be another reason... And you need to tell us! With Lumai gone, what more could you hope to accomplish?

The only way for everyone to win this damned game is not to play! All you have to do is to use the Wheel of Fortune to bring us back to the first day and shine the path to hope from there, and let us out! It won't take long, and everyone living on with just a little hope is much better than everybody living with despair that's simply shrouded by hope!

Do you see what I'm saying now? It's a lot more simple than you think! Just keep Lumai's body in the room that negates arcanas, and save everyone else in the name of hope!

Why does winning matter?

It's simple really. The Wheel of Fortune's effect lets me change a single major event in the past by letting me travel back in time to change that event. What I wanted to change was "the outcome of the first test of despair."

However, if I fail to change the event, then the Wheel of Fortune transports me back to the present and everything I have done in the past goes back to normal.

And as you know, in my present time, I am about to be executed. The Wheel of Fortune can only be used once per day... which means that this is my only chance. Regrettably, at the time I didn't think to try and change this event by "stopping Lumai", or "ending the test", only "changing the outcome of the test".

Someone else MUST win, otherwise everything will go back to how it was originally and Lumai will retake control over the game. You think I can just not play this game Apollo? You're mistaken, I can't give up on this game without giving up on everyone's lives as well.

I have an idea, but we'll have to go somewhere that the arcanas are not being negated. I would like to test something with my Hierophant card. It's a huge long shot, the chances of it working are slim at best. But, maybe... Just MAYBE it will work!

Mystio, can we move this to the Assembly Room? If we can, then we will most definitely see if the results of my test are correct! And if it does work... Then there is still hope, hope that we can salvage this all!

While I am up for trying other things in order to end the cycle, we may have to adjust our plans since, if we include Mystio, we are carrying all the arcanas except the world. I am trying not to cast too much suspicion, but I would prefer if you would tell us your plan before I wander out into a hallway with some people who have the arcanas. That way I have less to worry about.

Changing the outcome of the first game can be any number of things... Currently the previous outcome was that "Mystio won" which would lead to everyone dying. We can do as Mystio wants and change the winner to someone else, but there are plenty ways we can adjust that so the following events are edited, perhaps changed it to "Mystio and X person won." Everyone winning is slim since we have so many dead. 

Again I would like to hear your plan before you perform it since you have had some devious plans with the Hierophant before that, while good intentions, led to some shenanigans.

Sorry Apollo, but like I've said before, I have tried everything. This plan you have right now, I've already heard it before in the past games that you have been through, and I know it won't work.

But... I am willing to give everyone a last chance.


In this last vote, you can vote for either HOPE or DESPAIR. If you vote for HOPE, then you'll have to choose 2 people to sacrifice. I will give a random player the chance to kill those 2 and end the game.
